Huge thanks to the SCWT Club of GB for giving me the great honour of judging their Open Show, held in conjunction with Darlington Championship Show. Sincere thanks also go to the very capable stewards and to the exhibitors for giving me the pleasure of judging so many lovely SCWTs. I was really spoilt for choice with such a variety of wonderful, happy dogs to go over. I did find the overall quality very high with the only cause for concern the same as when I judged the breed last year, namely questionable bites. Teeth are important and it is desirable that a SCWT has good dentition with strong jaws, big teeth and scissor bite.

VD (1)

1 Pascoe’s CH Middlebury Shooting Star. This 8 years old boy was well presented in excellent condition and quality coat in good order. Masculine head with correct planes, good mouth and pigmentation. Good front. Well ribbed and balanced with level topline. Good tail set and carriage. Moved out nicely but a little close behind. BOS veteran.

PD (2;1)

1 Taylor’s Eblanahalls Silkbeard. Promising youngster with good movement coming and going. Good ears, mouth and pigmentation but slightly long in foreface. Good front, shoulders and rib to loin ratio. Nice bend of stifle. Level topline and good coat quality. BOSP.

JD (2)

1 Patterson’s Snowmeadow Sauls Symphony To Gavleash.  Well made head with dark eyes, good pigmentation and well set on ears. Good straight front but need to tighten at elbows. Good length of rib and short, strong loin. Tailset and hind quarters good. Coat of good texture and colour. Moved well.

2 Ward-Walker’s Eblanahalls Fine Half. Taller boy with finer bone. Good pigmentation and lovely coat texture. Nice reach of neck and level back. Somewhat erratic movement on the day.

YD (2)

1 Wardle’s Denzilly He’s Got The Look. Very nice young dog of good balance and outline. Excellent head with expressive dark eyes, neat ears and good mouth. Good pigmentation. Excellent front assembly, good bone and well placed shoulders. Well ribbed and short, strong loin. Excellent rear assembly and well let down hocks. Moved well with good tail carriage.

2 Taylor’s Eblanahalls Teckle Ish. Quite well balanced with lovely silky Irish type coat. Good pigmentation and eyes. Wider in front and needs to tighten in elbows and strengthen in rear, but moved quite well.

3 Lui’s Eblanahalls Aye Right. Well bodied dog with level topline and lovely, silky jacket. Movement somewhat erratic.

OD (5)

1 Dowdy’s CH Greentree Gold Mombo To Denzilly (IMP). Judged and loved him as a puppy and he certainly has fulfilled his promise. He still oozes “look at me” and demands attention. Strong head with neat, well carried ears and dark eyes sparkling with expression. Super front, good neck, well placed shoulders and deep, long ribcage plus short, strong loin. Excellent rear assembly enabling movement with easy drive. Tail well set on and with plenty behind. Well let down hocks and strong feet. Excellent coat and pigmentation. Very well presented in super condition and never stopped showing himself off. BD BIS.

2 Bristow’s Denzilly Sweet Destiny For Avard. Another very good and well balanced dog with many positive attributes. Well- made, masculine head with nice ears and keen expression. Good front, neck and shoulders and rear angulation. Well ribbed and strong topline. Good movement and presented in coat of good texture and colour.

3 Tilley’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Star At Starzak ShCM. Yet another very nice dog in this strong class. Finer in head but of good proportions, neat ears and dark hazel eyes. Good front assembly, super neck and firm topline. Lovely texture and colour to coat. Moved well from well angulated rear.

VB (1)

1 Tilley’s CH Starzak Solid Gold Ez Action JW ShCM. Very well balanced 10 years old girl with lovely head, neat ears, expressive dark eyes and strong bite. Good front assembly and reach of neck. Very good length and depth of rib and short strong loin. Level topline and tail set spot on. Good rear angulation and very sound movement. Pale wheaten coat of lovely texture. Best Veteran.

PB (3;1)

1 Lui’s Eblanahalls Honeytrap. This little girl filled my eye as soon as she entered the ring. She is a small package of positive attitude and purpose and so well balanced. Lovely head with neat ears and dark eyes full of expression. Very nice front assembly, good reach of neck leading into strong back over deep rib of good depth and length. Good hind angulation with enough behind. Lovely clear wheaten coat in good order. Moved out so well and at one with her young handler. BPIS.

2 Francis’ Sawheaten Kiss From A Rose. This is another very promising young girl with so much to like. Lovely head with well placed ears and dark eyes. Good front, level topline and very good tailset and rear assembly. Slightly taller than 1 but very well constructed and with excellent coat of good colour and texture. Somewhat reluctant to cooperate and not happy on the move, but she is barely 7 months old and probably needed a rest after the morning’s work.

JB (2)

1 Macgregor’s Kirktonhill What It’s Not. Very feminine 13 months old little girl of good balance. Lovely well-constructed head with great expression. Good front, neck  and shoulders. Very good topline and tail. Excellent rear construction enabling really good movement. Silky coat of good colour.

2 Davies’ Janeyjimjams Jam Puff. Another quite nicely made youngster, taller than 1 but not too big. Good quarters and level topline. Rear movement somewhat untidy. Lovely coat of good texture and colour.

YB (2;1) 1 Kirktonhill What It’s Not.

MB (2;1)

1 Watkins’ Zaraslake Tinie Tempah. Very attractive young bitch. Lovely head with neat well-placed ears, expressive dark eyes and good mouth. Good front, enough neck and well laid shoulders. Deep chest and good rib to loin ratio. Tail well set on and carried. Very good hind quarters and well let down hocks. Good coat and excellent movement.

NB (1;1)

GB (2)

1 Kirktonhill What It’s Not. 2 Mann’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Line. This sweet girl had a good head but with a rather sad expression. She obviously didn’t enjoy being in the ring today, which showed in her whole demeanour and movement.

SBB (2;1)

1 Delaney’s Braelochyen Ice Quartz. Quite good head but eyes rather pale. Good front, neck and ribs. Rear quarters could be stronger. Lovely silky, pale wheaten Irish type coat. Moved out steadily.

LB (4)

1 Lui’s Thistlebe Them There Eyes At Eblanahalls ShCM. Lovely, well balanced bitch with excellent head of good proportions, well carried ears and expressive dark eyes. Good front assembly, nice neck and shoulder placement. Good depth and length of rib, short coupled and with well set on and carried tail. Excellent hind angulation with well let down hocks. Well presented in coat of good texture and beautiful colour. Showed and moved with animation and very well indeed. BB BOS.

2 Jones’ Saffini Suga Pie Honey Bunch At Silverluka. Another very nice bitch with much to like. Good head and pigmentation, neat ears. Good front assembly. Short coupled with level topline and good tailset. Good coat and colour. Good bend of stifle and moved well.

3 Dowdy’s Denzilly Sweet Rumour. Yet another lovely bitch in super coat of good texture and colour. Not quite as good ear carriage as the previous girls. Good angulations fore and aft and moved well with easy drive. Carried a little too much condition on the day.

OB (3)

1 Gale’s Flaxela Drop Dead Gorgeous JW. It is all in the name, because this is a very attractive girl. Great head with dark eyes full of expression and neat ears, correct bite. Good front, nice reach of neck and well laid shoulders. Deep chest and short, strong loin and good tail carriage. Good hind quarter. Well presented in excellent jacket of good colour and texture. Moved very well with drive and ease.   RBB.

2 Barrett’s Saffini Sugar And Spice. Another nice and well balanced girl with feminine head of good construction. Well angulated for and aft. Enough neck and good rib, topline and tailset. Lovely coat of good colour. Not quite as fluid movement as 1.

3 Clarke’s Flaxela Everlasting Love Ir Jr Ch. Much to like about this girl too. Well balanced with nice head, neat ears and dark, expressive eyes. Good front, topline and tail and well angulated hind quarters. Coat of good colour and texture. Moved well but somewhat close behind.

Brace (2)

1 Watkins’ Zaraslake Lucky Seven & Zaraslake Tinie Tempah. Very well matched pair in appearance and they are in fact brother and sister from different litters. They were moving very well together and did put in a very united performance.

2 Taylor’s  Eblanahalls Teckle Ish & Eblanahalls Silkbeard. Not as well matched and did not move as well together as 1.

Junior Handling B: 12-16 (1)

Orlagh Lui. What a clever young handler this is. Moving as one with her dog and keeping the contact all the time, paying close attention to her dog and also to the judge. She guided her dog through the sets of moves with great skill and confidence and certainly was most worthy of the Best Junior Handler title.
