SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE SOUTH WALES 22

Thank you to the SWKA committee for inviting me to judge and for providing a well sized ring with plenty of space to assess movement. The stand out class of the day for me was Puppy Bitch - an absolute joy to judge and fantastic to see some quality puppies coming through after the challenging years of Covid. Thank you to all the exhibitors, I really enjoyed my second CC appointment and was very pleased with the overall quality of the exhibits.

VD (2)

1. Tilley’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Star at Starzak ShCM. Nice sized, well balanced dog, good head and mouth, correct coat and colour, level topline and correct tail set. Moved well.

2. Leverton’s Carkbark Good Luck Charm ShCM (Ms P Leverton). Correct coat, colour and of sound construction but didn’t move as well as I think he could today.

JD (1)

1. Clarke’s Flaxela Illuminati (ai). Nice size and of sound construction, pleasing head, mouth and ears well set. Level topline. A real pleasure to watch on the move – full of character and purpose. Some maturing still to do but definitely one to watch for the future. He was a serious contender for the RDCC, just didn’t move as well in the challenge as he had in the class.

PD (2,1)

1. Rogers’ Kizzahla Naughty Boy. Soundly constructed with a pleasing outline; correct coat, loosely waved and well presented. Lots to like but low on confidence and experience of the show ring as a “lockdown” pup, the acoustics of the hall didn’t help. He moved well once he found his confidence; he has a lot of potential, so I hope he can continue to grow his confidence.

LD (1)

1. Charlton’s House of Softy Indus (Imp Swe). Square outline with good reach of neck, level topline & excellent tailset. Lovely head, correct mouth and pleasing expression. Correct coat and colour. Moved well. Well turned out and handled. Pleasure to award him the RDCC.

OD (5)

A really strong class.

1. Dowdy’s Ch Greentree Gold Mombo to Denzilly (Imp USA). A real showman who took my eye as soon as he entered the ring. Correct head and mouth, ears well set, giving him a lovely expression. Correct coat and colour. Soundly constructed, level topline, correct tail set and a pleasure to watch on the move. Pleasure to award him the DCC and BOB and he did the breed proud in the group.

2. Moles, Williams & Dalton’s Ch Celtannia Atlantic Gold. Well balanced dog, level topline & good tailset. Correct coat texture and colour. Moved with drive and purpose. Well presented and handled.

3. Clarke’s Ch Flaxela Perfect Storm (ai).

GCD (1)

1. Leverton’s Carkbark Good Luck Charm ShCM.

VB (3,2)

1. Atyeo’s Kanjuley Scarlet O'hara (Mrs L Atyeo). Well presented with a pleasing outline. Feminine head, lovely expression. Sound construction. Moved well.

PB (9,3)

What a fabulous class!

1. Grant’s Dannebriel Me and My Girl. So much to like about this puppy. She was full of personality as you’d expect at this age, soundly constructed, with lovely head and expression. Coat maturing nicely. Level topline, correct tailset. Moved well. Bags of potential - I’ll look forward to seeing how she matures. BP and a delight to award her the RBCC.

2. Hughlock’s Keevasdream Ballerina Blue. Another fantastic puppy. Lovely natured with pleasing head and expression. Soundly constructed. Coat maturing nicely for age. Moved freely and with purpose.

3. Tilley’s Brynhir Born to Boogie at Starzak.

PGB (3)

1. Howe’s Flaxela Flirtini at Daisymaes (ai) Another one to watch for the future. Soundly constructed with an excellent outline; good head, good reach of neck, level topline, well coupled with a good tailset. Correct coat and colour with some final maturing still to do. Well presented and moved with drive and purpose.

2. Fallon’s Manawyddan Bizzy Lizzy. Sound construction. Well balanced with well laid shoulders and level topline. Some maturing still to do in coat. Moved well.

3. Black & White’s Celtannia Madamex at Mayurasana.

LB (4,1)

1. Davies’ Janeyjimjams Jam Puff at Brynhir. Pleasing head, sound construction. Correct coat texture and colour. Moved well and was enjoying her day.

2 Paton’s Denzilly Raspberry Beret. Lovely, well made feminine bitch. Many of the same attributes of 1, moved ok but not the movement of 1.

3. Thoburn’s Northridge Galway Girl.

OB (5,2)

1. Charlton’s House of Softy Indi Janeyjimjams (Imp Swe). Soundly constructed with an excellent outline; pleasing head, good reach of neck, level topline, correct tailset. Moved with purpose. Pleased to award her the BCC, I learned afterwards this was her first and I am sure there will be more to come.

2. Satherley & Witheyman’s Ch Silkcroft Born This Way JW. Correct coat and colour, I would just have liked to have seen a bit more of it with regards to length. Well handled.

3. Atyeo’s Kanjuley Scarlet Rose.
