SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE THREE COUNTIES 23

Many thanks to the officers and committee for the invitation to judge at this lovely show, in glorious surroundings, with the Malvern Hills looking on impressively. It was a very warm day, but the dogs took it in their strides and performed admirably. Many thanks to all the exhibitors for taking the time and expense to prepare their dogs to a high standard and provided a quality entry of SCWT. It is good to see that the breed has some excellent examples been shown at present and there were many who were knocking on the door for honours today. I must admit that I was delighted with my DCC & BCC when they made the final circle of the ring in the challenge. They complemented each other very nicely and both moved so true in typical fashion, covering the ground with purpose. It nearly brought a smile to my face.

1ST 3147 - Flaxela Illuminati (ai) (Mrs P & Mr J Clarke). Stand out winner of this class, put in a performance and impressed on the move. So balanced and clean to go over, with bone and substance, with the best of jackets, thick, silky and of good colour and texture. Correct, masculine head, with strong jaw, good bite, tidy ears and dark eye and big nose. Strong through neck and well placed shoulders. Straight front , quality ribbing and depth of chest. Well muscled powerful rear that powered him around the ring. I am sure he has a bright future ahead.

2ND 3154 - Denzilly Golden Compass (Ms E & Mr W Hookway & Mason). Another that pleased for overall size, balance and substance. OK in head, with adequate neck, well laid shoulders and good ribbing. Sporting a smart jacket. Moved tidily in typical fashion, with good reach in front.

1ST 3148 - Ch Flaxela Perfect Storm (ai) (Mrs P & Mr J Clarke) Well this fellow has matured very nicely since I judged him last, previously awarding a RCC when a youngster. He has lost none of his style and puts on a performance on the move. Lovely through head, clean strong jaw and correct dentition. Bright eye, ample neck. Compact through body, well ribbed, good depth and strong loin. Tail bang on and plenty behind. Ample angulation. Well developed muscles. Sporting a well presented jacket. Handled and controlled very well, precisely covering the uneven ground , with purpose, always on his toes like a terrier should be. Was pleased to award him DCC, BOB in very strong competition and delighted he went onto be awarded a well deserved Group 2..

2ND 3163 - Silkcroft Shake It Off JW (Mr C W & Mrs C L Satherley). Another I noted I have judged before and looking back in my notes from 2021, he was awarded first and I stated, "Be interesting to see him matured, as at present he lacks the required substance", when he was 12 mths. Well here he was today all grown up and certainly fulfilling his potential from his younger days. Clean through head, bright eye, tidy small ears and good strong bite. Well angled throughout. With the required, ribbing, bone and substance. Smart coat and furnishings, thick and abundant. He really impressed on the move, striding out, with good front extension and drive from behind in a flowing movement. Rewarded with a fully deserved RCC in strong competition.
