It was a great pleasure for me to be invited to judge dogs & bitches at Birmingham National dog show & for this I would like to thank the officers & committee. I would also like to thank the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity to judge their dogs & taking my decision sportingly, it was my pleasure to go over them. Last but not least thank you to my two able ring stewards Raye & John Parry.

MPD (6,2a)

1 Davies’ Braunstaff From Hasbury, brindle dog, last day in minor puppy, good in size & overall shape, head well defined with correct bite, dark round well placed eyes, well carried ears all helping to provide a keen expression, straight front with well boned forelegs, body ideal in length with a good ribcage & well defined waistline. Rearquarters providing a good action on the move. Moved freely & responded to his handler;

2 Baldwin’s Elitebull Night Misson, b/br, nearly 9 months, nice headed puppy with a keen expression. Developing nicely, muzzle of correct length with ample underjaw, neat rose ears, nicely placed dark round eyes, good expression with a correct scissor bite. Straight front with ample bone with tight well-padded feet, ample rib for age, level topline both standing & on the move, strong in hindquarters for age, lovely coat condition, moved & handled very well;

3 Rowe & South’s Illori Akinlana.

1 Sherwood & Jones’ Yiskastaff Dark Knight, b/br, touch of white on chest, nearly 12 months. He absolutely oozes quality throughout, presented in top condition. Lovely head of correct proportions, distinct stop, clean tight lips with ample underjaw, correct bite, neat well set ears producing a typical expression, darkest of eyes, lovely well boned straight front with a good ,width strong pasterns along with well-padded tight feet, brisket & spring of rib, developing nicely for age, level topline both standing & also on the move. Hindquarters developing nicely for age, moved & shown to maximum advantage. BP, PG3;

2 Dean’s Kylestaff Muddy Water, b/br, touch of white on chest 10½ months, similar type to winner but not quite as mature, good head shape with correct bite, good eye colour & positioning providing a keen expression, straight front with well boned forelegs & neat well-padded feet, defined neckline leading to good shoulders & brisket. Good body length with close coupling, tucked-up well for age. Pleasing outlines on the move giving overall balance throughout;

3 Waltham’s Dringshaw Marquez.

1 Hirst & Bibby’s Taraiel Busta Rhymes, dark brindle, nice dog in type & style, head being particularly pleasing, correct skull to muzzle proportions, correct dentition, neat rose ears & well positioned dark round eyes. Straight front with adequate well boned forelegs & tight well-padded feet, short in body length with a defined waist line, good bend in stifle & level topline both standing & also on the move. Moved & handled to advantage;

2 Bowler’s Kyraloebis The Bogus Man at Trelynbow, very well balanced b/br, slight white chest, good blend of bull & terrier, nice head with a very pleasing expression, well carried neat rose ears, dark round eyes, distinct stop with ample underjaw, correct dentition, good sound straight front, neat well-padded feet, strong neck into well-built frame. Good ribbing into loins leading to sound hindquarters, sound firm line which remains level when on the move. Moved & handled to advantage;

3 McDermott’s Macadermus Midnight Caller.

1 Butler’s Ramblestaff Cos I Could, b/br/w chest, neat standard dog of good type & construction, good head shape & expression, having well placed dark round eyes, neat rose ears, clean scissor bite, good ratio skull to muzzle, ample stop & underjaw. Good width & depth of brisket with a well boned clean front with tight well-padded feet, well defined with a level topline both standing & also on the move. Good tuck-up & ample bend in stifle with well let down hocks. Turned out in excellent condition, moved & handled very well;

2 Karlsson & Beaufoy’s Jewelstaff Rocker Billy Boy, b/br/w chest, good head shape small rose ears, nice round eyes with correct ratio skull to muzzle with depth of underjaw. Good clean bite, nice reach of neck, straight front, ample depth in brisket, well up on pasterns with tight feet, level topline both stacked also on the move. Good sound hindquarters, ample bend in stifle, well set tail carriage carried correctly when on the move;

3 Barke’s Rubicanov Wot A Cracker at Starhaze.

1 Evans’ Hammystaff Fire Blade, nice deep red with white markings, shapely strong head with black mask, clean defined muzzle, deep underjaw, tight lips, correct bite, dark round eyes, neat correctly placed ears. Straight front & good width to forechest, strong neck to well laid shoulders, level topline when moving & defined hindquarters, nice bend in stifle & correct tailset, moved freely with drive, handled very well;

2 K Muddy Water, b/br, fit the Standard to a tee, good head with correct ratio skull to muzzle, well-shaped muzzle with no surplus flesh & clean lipped, good underjaw & correct dentition, dark well placed round eye & neat earset, straight front with well-padded feet. Short neck blending into good shoulders, well boned forelegs & a good deep chest, ample rib, level topline, strong rearquarters, moved & handled to advantage;

3 Papworth’s Tiezelstaffs Moonshine Bay.

2 Barke’s Rubicanov Wot A Cracker at Starhaze, b/br, heavier type than 1, strong headed with correct dentition, tidy ears, well placed dark round eyes, straight well boned front with a deep brisket. Good shoulders & plenty of rib, strong level back, good rear end with ample bend in stifle, moved & handled OK.

1 Ridley’s Jagstaff The Gardsman, good deep r/w dog with a quality head & a keen expression, dark well placed eyes, neat rose ears & a clean bite complimented with definite stop & ample underjaw with tight flews, neat & tidy front with well boned forelegs with width in chest & good depth of brisket, well placed shoulders leading to a level topline, well-shaped hindquarters with good angulated stifles & well let down hocks. Drives well from hindquarters, very soundly constructed, correct tailset & carriage, moved & presented very well;

2 Hopkins & Gabel’s Golden Boy Trufflestaff of Spirit-Staffs, b/br with no exaggerations, fits the Standard like a glove, good shaped head, round dark eyes, neat ears, perfect bite, no surplus flesh around the lips. Good straight front & shoulder placement, nice depth of brisket, well sprung ribs, level topline when on the move, strong well angulated muscular hindquarters, well set tail correctly carried on the move;

3 Grove’s Manark Murphys Law.

1 Houghton’s Belterstaffs Ginger Joe, this r/w dog as all the qualities I was looking for. He has balance & correct conformation & his movement was effortless. Good head that is very well proportioned, a defined stop, good round eye shape showing a lovely alert expression, complimented with tidy rose, ears correct bite with large white interlocking canines. Well boned straight front with good padded tight feet, lovely in body length with good spring of rib & a defined waist line. Good neck & shoulders, level topline both standing also on the move, correct angulated hindquarters & good bend in stifle with well let down hocks, neat tail carried correctly at all times. Moved purposefully & handled very well. CC & BOB;

2 Fulford’s Elitebulls Heartbreaker for Regalbull, b/br, a dog I gave BP to some 2 years ago & as matured into a superb example, beautiful head & expression, good mouth, dark round eyes & neat rose ears, deep stop & ample underjaw, straight well boned front with good well-padded tight feet, nicely laid shoulders & a level topline which he holds on the move. Powerful hindquarters with good bend in stifle, nice whipped tailset & carried correctly when moving;

3 Thomas’ Biggleswick Funky Devil.

1 Southern’s Waystaff Ministry Of Excellence, r/w pied, a real quality dog who catches the eye with clean flowing lines & alertness, well balanced dog throughout with a strong well shaped head with the keenest of expressions, deep skull, neat rose ears, well-shaped dark round eyes, correct skull to muzzle ratio, correct scissor bite & a pronounced stop, strong neck leading to well laid shoulders & a well boned straight front, excellent depth of brisket with a good spring of rib, straight topline standing, also when on the move, powerful hindquarters with good angulations in stifle & pasterns, moved & handled very well. RCC;

2 Kimber’s Kimstaff’s Harry Potter, b/br, touch of white on chest, super head, neat rose ears, dark well placed round eyes, correct bite, clean tight lips with a strong underjaw, strong neck with a well boned straight front with the neatest of feet & good pigmentation, short in body with a rounded ribcage set off with a defined waistline. Hindquarters were well angulated allowing him to move freely. Ideal in height/weight ratio, held a level topline when moving, well-muscled thighs & a good bend in stifle, coat & general condition was 1st class;

3 Dickenson & Asberg’s Kronsaters Lycktraff.

1 Marachowska & Marachowski’s Ch Kalhols Black Magic at Passernomen, a b/br dog I gave the CC to in 2011, although he stood alone he could still hold his own in an Open class, still retains his many virtues, fantastic quality with a well-balanced head of correct proportions, good deep stop with ample underjaw & tight lips, correct dentition, lovely ear carriage with neat rose ears, well placed dark round eyes, straight well bonded front, strong pasterns & tidy feet, ample depth in brisket & sprung of rib, good tuck-up in waist, short coupled & a level topline both standing & also on the move. Tailset correct & carried very well, moves & handled very well.

1 Davies’ Braunstaff Angel Of Hope, b/br nearly 9 months old, a confident puppy with good pigmentation & bone, very soundly constructed, well shaped head, she as a defined stop, neat ear carriage, ample underjaw, a nice clean bite & a dark round eye. Good straight well boned front & neat well knuckled padded feet, good shoulders leading to a level topline, rib just starting to develop, level back standing also when moving. Well-made rearquarters, ample bend in stifle, well let down hocks, developing OK sound movement;

2 Gregory’s Alport Remembrance, b/br, very much a baby compared to winner, just 6 months, a typical desirable head shape & expression, correct month, lovely dark round eyes finished off with small rose ears, clean neckline running into well placed shoulders. Pleasing front with strong pasterns along well padded tight feet, straight topline, strong enough in the hindquarters for her age, moved & handled very well.

1 A Remembrance;

2 Daly & Lees’ Starolestaff Arabella at Boscador, feminine bitch portraying a fine expression, good mouth, ears OK & correct bite, dark well placed round eyes, straight front with ample width to forechest, rib OK when brisket develops, balanced overall & not overdone in any way. Stood foursquare, moved & handled very well;

3 Barke’s Falkirkstaff at Starhaze.

JB (9,1)

1 Turner’s Manark Calamity Jane, r/w pied just out of puppy, a nice bitch in type & style, her head being particularly pleasing, good skull to muzzle proportions, deep stop with ample underjaw, small neat rose ears, dark well positioned round eyes, correct dentition with cheek muscles developing nicely. Straightest of fronts with tight well-padded feet & good pigmentation, deep in brisket & a well sprung ribcage, well-muscled angulated hindquarters allowed her to move with the minimum of effort, coat & general condition was first class & her handler certainly knows how to get the best out of her, went close to the challenge for RCC;

2 Harrison & Roper’s Trawden Ice And Spice, r/w, very similar to winner, nearly 14 months, a very close decision between first two. Very good breed type with best of head shapes with a deep skull & ample stop & underjaw with clean lips, dark round eyes & neat well placed rose ears with large white teeth & a correct bite, good well boned straight front, neat well-padded feet & correct pigmentation, correct amount of brisket for age with a well sprung rib, correct shoulder placement, nicely coupled & a level topline both standing also on the move, strong hindquarters showing ample muscle definition, stifles well angulated, moved freely & with drive;

3 McDermott’s Macadermus Dawn Run.

YB (3)

1 Canavan’s Boldstock Am I Bovered, a very standard brindle, strong yet feminine, excellent shaped skull, correct bite, dark round well placed eyes & well placed rose ears creating a lovely expression, straight well boned front, tight well-padded feet with good pigmentation, ample depth of brisket & a well laid back shoulder with correct length of back, ample spring of rib with superb muscletone. Level topline well tucked-up in loins, well angulated stifles, shown in excellent condition;

2 Beesley’s Jodanzac Missy Lou, br/w, similar to winner a close decision, she has a nice feminine clean head shape, good bite, strong underjaw, lovely dark round well placed eyes & a tidy ear carriage, well boned true straight front with well-shaped tight feet with correct pigmentation. A good depth in brisket, lovely neck leading into an excellent lay of shoulder, level topline both standing also on the move, nicely ribbed & well tucked-up showing her strong hindquarters with well angulated stifles, presented a clean balanced outline, move with drive & purpose;

3 McClements’ Jodanzac Brindle Pride.

NB (2,1)

1 Green’s Jewelstaff Miss Chief at Fromestaff, b/br with white chest, standard size, well balanced throughout, head of correct proportions with a good clean bite & ample sized teeth, dark round eyes with a good ear carriage, first class front with well boned legs & well-padded feet. Neck blends into well laid shoulders, well angulated fore & hindquarters, moved well keeping a level topline, correct tailset & carriage.

1 Nedorolik’s Roughnecks Little Angel, a young red bitch with black mask that as a lot going for her, she is very well put together, well-proportioned head shape, correct dentition, ample depth in stop with adequate underjaw & tight lips, good dark round eyes set well apart affording a most appealing expression, well boned legs, well up on pasterns with correct pigmentation, tight feet, lovely in body length with a good spring of rib & a defined waistline, short coupled to rearquarters that provided a good driving action. Carried her tail in the desired way. Handled very well;

2 Hirst & Bibby’s Taraiel Lorde, a very nice br/w bitch of good type, strong enough head size & shape, well set dark round eyes, neat rose ears carried very well, correct dentition with nice size clean white teeth. Good straight well boned front with neat well-padded feet, with a deep through brisket, good topline & underlines, well-muscled & angulated hindquarters, moved with purposeful drive, she was in great show condition & handled very well.

1 Morris & Folwell’s Asbonstaff Just In Time at Rowellstaff, r/w, lovely headed bitch, I liked the strength of head without being overdone, a keen expression with correct skull to muzzle proportions, clean lips with a perfect bite, neat rose ears worked to advantage, no weakness in underjaw, very good straight front & tidy well-padded feet with good pigmentation, ample brisket & ribs well sprung to the loins, level topline both standing & also on the move with correct bend in stifle, well-let down hocks, well-muscled hindquarters, moved parallel from behind;

2 Marachowska & Marachowski’s The Evil Inside at Passernomen, b/br/w, well balanced from all angles, lovely shaped feminine head with dark round eyes, well defined stop, ample underjaw, clean lipped, correct bite & neat rose ears giving a lovely expression, good straight front & depth in brisket, short strong neck blending into powerful shoulders, with plenty of rib, short level back with a good tuck-up, strong hindquarters with ample angulations in stifle, presented in excellent condition, moved & handled very well;

3 R Little Angel.

LB (13,2)

1 Merrick’s Seabull Temptress Of Fire for Magicgem, red with white, standard size bitch, very pleasing feminine head shape, lovely dark well placed round eyes, ears OK, correct mouth with the tightest of lips with a good underjaw, nice straight well boned front with good feet, a nice depth of brisket, correct shoulder placement & ample spring of rib, nicely coupled & a level topline both standing & also on the move. Showing a good muscle definition in hindquarters, stifles are well angulated & well let down in hocks, moved with drive & purpose;

2 Rogers’ Berrystock Charlies Angle, b/br, sound throughout with overall balance & construction, dark well placed round dark eyes, neat rose ears with a correct bite, strong underjaw with tight lips, correct head ratio & a keen expression, well boned straight front with strong pasterns & neat tight feet which are well pigmented, broad chest, deep brisket & well sprung ribs, well laid back shoulders, short strong level back, powerful hindquarters providing a superb driving action on the move, fits the Standard like a glove, presented in excellent condition, moved with great co-ordination with handler;

3 Stanway’s Mosstrooper Making Mischief at Waystaff.

OB (13,2)

1 Martin’s Alvis Northern Lightsm r/w, gave this bitch RCC two years ago, she certainly did not disappoint me, she has matured more since I last judged her, fitness & condition were spot on. I reiterate what I said before. Pleased to award this bitch the CC, she certainly deserved it, another fine example of our breed. A stunning head shape with skull broad & deep & lovely expression, good stop & depth to underjaw, well placed rose ears, darkest of round eyes, big white canines, correct bite, also very tight lipped. She has a good straight front with well boned legs, neat well-padded feet. Deep brisket & well defined ribs, she carries a straight topline when moving, is close coupled with defined hindquarters with a good bend in stifle, shown in excellent condition, a credit to the owner, handled & moved very well;

2 Mason’s Ch Dare To Dream, b/br, lovely head, neat well set rose ears, good dark round eye & a correct bite, straight well boned front with good shoulders & tight well-padded feet with correct pigmentation. Clean muscled neck that tapers nicely into her shoulders, well sprung in rib, short neck & shoulder conformation, short coupled & well tucked-up in loins, well bodied up with level topline both standing & also on the moving, complimented with good muscular hindquarters, well pronounced first & second thigh also well let down hocks, condition & fitness were spot on, presented & handled very well. RCC;

3 Hopgood & Kerry’s Starolestaff Mystic Mimi of Antroboss.

VB (3)

1 Hopkins’ Ch Trufflestaff Monifa Kanika, standard b/br of excellent type, stunning head in excellent proportion, dark round eyes, dentition correct, very tight lipped with a good depth of underjaw & neat rose ears. Straight front with good width in chest, ample depth of brisket with well-padded feet & of the correct shape, also well up on pasterns, a strong well muscled neck flowing into well laid shoulders, ample spring of rib, well tucked-up in loins, well angulated hindquarters, moved very well both ways;

2 King’s Kylorda Kazashi, b/br bitch of good proportions, good head shape, neat well shaped ears, dark round eyes, correct mouth with no lippiness. True straight front, well tucked-up, level topline, good quarters & bend in stifle, well-let down in hocks, handled very well;

3 Fox’s Jolihem Fearless Joe.
