STAFFORDSHIRE BULL BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 18 Judge: Mrs Karen Johnson BEST OF BREED : 5340 MURPHY Mr & Mrs M & M Karwillage Mystic Girl STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 18 A fabulous day which I really enjoyed. Many thanks to my two ring stewards for the day, Elaine and Tec Norton, who did a fabulous job keeping the ring running smoothly and well organised. Thank you to all of you who entered your dogs for my opinion, your entries and support were much appreciated and remember, this is only my opinion on the day. Overall quality was good, especially in the higher classes. I do have a concern about the amount of dogs and bitches that had short sternums, and a couple I noted with narrow nostrils. Fitness and condition of the exhibits was mostly good. So pleasing when "going over" the dogs to see that effort has been made to present them well. Thank you. 1 Blanch's Calonge's Stormfire Lebron James. Eight and a half months, red with white chest. Well proportioned. Good pigmentation. Nicely placed neat ears, dark round eyes. Moved soundly with a level topline. Enough front width. His nails were a tad long which made his feet splay a little, but overall presents a nice picture. BP. 2 Hirst & Bibby's Taraiel Soulja Boy. Another promising puppy. 7 months, bl/br with white tips on toes. Clean lipped, enough underjaw for his age. I liked his expression. Correct angulations front and rear. Close decision between first and second, first was a little shorter coupled. 3 Marachowska & Marachowski's Passernomen Blancus Omen. Bl/br, 8 months with a good head shape on this young boy, well defined stop and strength of underjaw. Neat ears. Keen, alert and on his toes. Front needs to tighten. 1 Harkin's Harkline Conor McGregor. Eight and a half months, bl/br with white on chest. His head shape is coming along nicely. Enough stop, dark expressive eyes. His width of muzzle is good for his age. Well placed rose ears which he used well. Cheek muscles starting to develop. Correct dentition. A little loose in elbow but this could tighten with age. 1 Desmond's Elitebulls Challenger. Bl/br, just into Junior. I have admired from the ringside and watched him from a raw baby and wasn't disappointed on examination. He does tend to command your attention! Fabulous head shape with a good width to skull, his muzzle is strong with clean lips housing a correct bite, with no excess of flesh. Dark round eyes with alert, very keen expression and, to finish off, a pair of neat rose ears. Strong neck leading into well laid shoulders. He stands on strong pasterns and well padded feet. Good muscle tone and width of thigh. Viewed in profile he has clean lines and balance throughout. RCC, couldn't deny him this today, well done. A bright future I predict, I will be watching! 2 Lee's Molru Throwing Shapes. Another I really liked a lot. Bl/br of substance. Well off for bone Stronger dog all over than first. No denying this boy is male. He has a punishing headpiece with a very keen expression, he gives you the impression he would miss nothing! Straight front with good width to his chest. Short coupled with good spring to ribs. His good width of thigh was well muscled. Shown in fit, hard condition. Credit to his owner. 3 Wilson's Northstaff Notorious. Standard bl/br shown in lovely condition. Appealing clean head. Bite is correct. Strong well muscled neck. Short in coupling. Strong rear with nice angulation. Well proportioned side profile. Preferred the width of chest on first and second. 1 Morrell's Mr Prospector Des Terres d'Armor (Imp Fra). Standard dog. Beautiful brindle! The condition overall on this boy was outstanding, his coat gleamed. A lot to like about him. Correct ratio muzzle to skull, no excess flesh around the lips or skull. Round dark eyes which were well placed. I liked his width of muzzle and expression. Neat ears. A little narrow in front. He has well rounded ribs and enough depth of brisket. Muscular well defined rear quarters. 2 Axe's Harleys Choice JW. Standard size bl/br, stronger in bone and type than first. Masculine head with well defined stop and cheek muscles. His front is straight, no weakness at pasterns, well padded feet. Side profile, he is short coupled showing a nice lay of shoulder and upper arm. Another shown in excellent muscular condition. Moved well. You can see the work these owners have put in. Close decision between these two. Preferred the cleaner lip of first. 3 Anchor's Valglo Daddy Cool. Standard brindle with broad white chest and white toes. Stronger dog with ample bone. Correct bite. Strong short muscular neck. Close smooth coat, in good condition. 1 Rees' Edgeworth Arturo. Bl/br with white chest. Head of correct proportion with rose ears. Tight clean lip with enough underjaw and scissor bite. Correct brisket depth. Strong front and neat, tight feet. Second thigh showing width and good muscular development. 2 Turner's Quatros Ironclad Buddy JW. Brindle with white chest. Attractive well defined head shape with an alert 'look at me' expression. Nothing overdone. Straight front, enough bone. Movement was ok when settled, he did tend to pace a little on the move. 3 Devlin's Tightlines Dusty's Trail. Red with white chest. Heavier in type than first and second. Very sound dog this, moved with drive and purpose. Level topline stacked and moving. 1 Breckell's Chiswelstaff Lets Dance JW ShCM. Wow factor for me this one! Bl/br, oozing quality and breed type. The standard calls for great strength for size and this is exactly what this boy has. Well defined masculine clean head, good width and strength of underjaw, distinct stop. All in proportion. Pleasing expression enhanced by neat ears which he used to his advantage. Strong muscular neck leading into correct lay of shoulder. Looking at him front on he has a good front assembly, good weight of bone with a nice depth of brisket. Looking over the top I see well sprung ribs and short coupling. Rear quarters are well defined with muscle and well let down hocks. Presented in fit, hard condition. Moved well once settled. Lovely dog all round. CC, well done. 2 Allsopp's Rubericla Trailbreaker. Bl/br, lighter in bone and type than first. Appealing head and expression, tight lip, dark round eye and tidy rose ears. Short coupled with good tuck up. Well developed second thigh. His owners have obviously put the work into this dog and it showed. His coat was gleaming and his fitness a credit! He was very "up on his toes" alert and obviously loves to show. Preferred the rear movement on first. 3 Jordan's Dazmarnic Know Wot I Mean JW. Red with white chest. Head of good proportion and correct ratio. Correct scissor bite. Good pigment and dark eye. Short coupled and well balanced profile. Movement was good. Not as clean in head as first and second. 1 McClelland's Ch Rochlawie Behold The Hour JW. Very well put together this brindle. Clean head, no fleshiness. I would have liked a little more fill under the eye. Correct scissor bite. Viewed from any angle he is clean in outline with good angles. Looking at him I expected him to move well, he did, with ease and carried his topline level. Good tail carriage. 2 Corcoran & O'Donovan's Ch/Ir Ch Molru Alright Dave. Standard bl/br. Strong headed with a punishing expression. Looked ready for anything! Shorter in muzzle than first. Short coupled and shown in immaculate condition. Strong well muscled rear quarters, which he used well on the move showing drive and purpose. Close decision. Just preferred the muzzle length on first. Two nice dogs. 3 Lewis' Ch Biggleswick Splash Of Ginge. Red with white chest. Another one in tip-top condition! Well defined head and clean lip. Well pronounced cheek muscles housing correct dentition. Keen expression. Short smooth coat. Short coupled. He has a fabulous well-muscled, strong back end. Not as clean in shoulder as first and second. 1 Davis' Sharmara Amazing Grace. 8 months, brindle, loved her colour. Developing nicely. Clean lipped, correct scissor bite. Nice lines side profile. Tidy feet. Well balanced youngster. Ears need to settle. Sound puppy and she moved well. 2 Molineux's Druidhawk Polly Toodle At Jefmor. Bl/br, not as clean in outline as first. A raw baby at 6 months old. Sweet expression with a dark eye. She has a good finish to her muzzle. Correct scissor bite. Moved well. 3 Funnell's Powerpack Alura Finvarra. Bl/br, 7 months. Pretty baby with neat ears and dark round eye. Rib developing nicely. Longer in body than first and second. Moved well. 1 Anchor's Lonemoor Inion Realta. Bl/br with a small amount of white on her chest. Just into Puppy. A nice puppy that is well balanced, with enough bone. Feminine head shape with tidy rose ears. Her eyes are dark and round. Scissor bite, clean lip. Ribs are well sprung for her age. Tends to slope off at the croup slightly. Moved and handled well. BPB. 3 Hoggard & Afsar's Lonemoor Inion De For Zaagabull. Bl/br, lighter in bone than first and second and not as mature. Nice head shape with correct bite. Level topline stacked and moving. Needs to settle on the move but this will come with time and patience, after all she is still very much a baby. What a lovely class! Some top quality bitches in this class. 1 Lee & Coleman's Berrystock Enigma Black. Bl/br. Ticked lots of boxes for me this one. Teeming with quality. Well constructed and balanced proportions whichever way you view her. Beautiful shapely head of good ratio, clean finish to her nice width of muzzle. Lovely expression. Good front on her which showed when she moved towards me. No pastern weakness, tight neat feet. Nicely sprung rib and depth to brisket. Shown in good condition and handled well. A good future ahead. 2 Saunt's Moonlight-Shimmer Of Darklands (Imp Fra). Another from the top drawer! Bl/br with many of the qualities of first, just a touch longer in back. Head is of correct proportions with a nice length of muzzle which is clean with nothing overdone, enough underjaw. Clean, well placed shoulders. Topline is good standing and on the move. Moved well. 3 Owen's Tagstane Bobby McGee. Standard bl/br. Stronger than second, but still shouts feminine. Loved her strength of head but, like I said, all female. Alert at all times even when I glanced back at her. Nicely balanced girl. Good width to her straight, well boned front. Standing on strong pasterns and neat feet. Preferred the ear set on first and second. 1 Murphy's Karwillage Mystic Girl. Star of the day for me! An eyecatching showgirl, oozing breed type, who fitted the standard. What a pleasure. Bl/br with white chest. Feminine head shape, clean lipped, correct bite. Roundest of eyes with the keenest, focused expression. Lovely front leading to strong pasterns, well padded feet which turn out slightly. Short coupled, hocks well let down, enough bend of stifle Well balanced, however, I looked at her. Her ribs are well sprung. Topline is level moving, and stacked and when I kept glancing back she was still holding her frame. In fact every time I glanced back around the class, there she was! Couldn't take my eyes off her. She was totally in focus with her lady handler who certainly gets the best out of her, great bond going here. Shown in immaculate condition. A credit to her owners. One I would love to own. CC & BOB, well done. Thank you to her owners who had to change their ferry back to Ireland so that she could represent our breed in the Group, where she was shortlisted. She did the breed proud. 2 Jackson's Jackabyte Miss Moneypenny JW. Bl/br of substance and type. Another bitch with oodles of quality. More strength in body than first but still feminine. Nicely proportioned head with neat ears and correct bite. In fabulous condition this one. Strong in both front and rear assembly, her hindquarters and second thigh showing fantastic definition. Good tuck up. Her feet have the slight turn out without weakness at the pastern. Moved away with drive and purpose. Movement was also good coming towards me. You can see the work put in to get and keep her in this condition, well done. 3 McDermott & Bernhardsson's Kings And Queens' Over The Moon (Imp Swe). The first three here are all lovely bitches. Standard bl/br who is slightly longer in back than first and second. Lovely head and dark eye with a beautiful expression and tidy ears. Well sprung rib leading to a nice tuck up. Enough bend of stifle. Moved freely and showed well. 1 Kirk's Jodanzac Fireball Red. Red with white chest. Pretty bitch with excellent bone. Pigment is good. Dark eye. Correct depth to her brisket. Smooth close coat. Carrying a little weight. Sound movement. 1 Rowe & South's Illori Believe In Me JW. Top end of the standard brindle bitch. Stood alone but certainly deserved her first place! Beautifully constructed. Sound bitch this one, any angle you look at her she's balanced. Clean lines, topline and underline. Clean shoulders with nice lay, correct upper arm length. Topline was held level standing and on the move. She moved lovely, a pleasure to watch. With construction like this I was expecting all of the above. Her coat was gleaming. 1 Simpson's Briganah Body And Soul. Brindle, I really liked her. She possesses the most beautiful head which is well defined with a distinct stop and well developed cheek muscles. Broad skull, cracking expression, nice width and finish of muzzle. Strong head but no mistaking she's a bitch! Good strong straight front with neat, nicely padded feet. Ribs are well sprung. Nicely rounded thighs which are well muscled. She moved well. Carried her tail a little high on the move. 3 Buchan's Happystaff Could It Be Magic. Bl/br. Clean head with clean lip and nice finish to muzzle, eyes could be a little darker. Short coupled, level topline moving and stacked. Moved and handled well. 1 Butler's Joemikeste Play The Game. Bl/br with white chest. Liked her a lot. She possesses a clean chizzled head with a keen, alert expression, no excess flesh. Width of underjaw is good, nice width to her skull, dark eye and correct scissor bite. Very pretty and feminine. Her straight front has good width and she stands on strong pasterns. Lovely well balanced profile with correct angulations. Well laid clean shoulders. 2 McKimm's Biggleswick Fifty Fifty JW. Red with white chest and white toes. Well, I couldn't look this one in the eye without chuckling to myself. She has such a naughty, cheeky 'what you looking at' expression! Very shapely headpiece with developed cheek bumps, distinct stop and dark eye. Dark pigmentation. Strong well-muscled neck. Well sprung ribs with a nice tuck up to loins. Strong muscular quarters, well defined second thigh with nice width. Her coat is in tip-top gleaming condition sitting close and smooth. For me I would prefer to see a bit more covering on her. 3 Mann's Nerotoro Cosmic Girl JW. Standard, well balanced bl/br. I liked her head shape and dark round eyes giving her an appealing expression. Well boned, strong front with enough width. She is short in coupling. Bend of stifle is good. Moved ok. 1 Byrne & Gartland's Ch Carandstaff Moondance JW. Bl/br with white chest. One of my favourites this one, always admired her. What a cracker! Ticks so many boxes for me. Strong feminine head, width to her skull was good as was her width of muzzle and strength of underjaw. Dark eyes with an expression that I felt was watching my every move! Oh wait a minute...she was! The feeling was mutual, I couldn't take my eyes off her either. Well constructed with correct balance. Nicely angulated front and rear, hocks well let down. Excellent spring of rib. She moves very soundly with drive and economy of effort, but the way she is put together I expected good movement. Fits the standard perfectly. Pushed hard for the big Green one but just lost out today as she was carrying a little bit too much weight. RCC. 2 Duncan's Nettleworth No Nonsense JW. Bl/br. Another teeming with quality. Not as strong as first. Typical head shape, clean tight lips and correct scissor bite. Eye placement is correct. Neat rose ears. Nice tuck up to loins, short in body. Shown in fabulous condition today. Muscle definition in abundance! Short smooth coat in excellent condition. Very close decision today between these two, but moving I preferred the topline on first. 3 Hirst & Bibby's Taraiel Lorde JW ShCM. Very striking bl/br with white legs, Straight front with well padded feet and the blackest of nails. Clean lines, nothing over done. Moved with drive. A sound bitch. My notes say "loved her too". Three nice bitches. 1 Hirst & Bibby's Ch Taraiel Ciara JW ShCM. Always loved this bitch, a real soft spot for her. She looks fabulous and every inch the Champion she is! Certainly doesn't look her 8 years. She has lost none of her well defined head shape or her wicked expression. Her conformation is super. Movement was good. She carried a level topline and a good tail carriage. BV and Veteran Group 4. Well done. 2 Buchan's Araidh Cherish The Day. Brindle. Another lovely veteran. These two both looked fab. Veteran is one of my favourite classes. Pretty headed bitch going a little grey now, aren't we all! A little lighter in eye than first. She has the most beautiful 'knowing all' expression. Clean lipped. Straight front. Strong, well let down hocks. Moved well. |
