STAFFORDSHIRE BULL MANCHESTER 25 Judge: Mr J C Scanlan & Dr Archie Bry STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE BITCHES MANCHESTER 25 Bitches Firstly, many thanks to the sporting exhibitors who supported the breed and the show with a very pleasing entry. Quality overall was pretty good and there were no serious health issues of concern. Mouths were overall very good. One or two were just a bit tight, but passable, in the canines and one was just bad enough to be penalised. On the other hand, some had magnificent ‘fangs’ that were the best I have seen for many a long year! None had breathing problems either. Overall coats were in excellent condition. One or two might have been a touch fitter and carried a little bit on the loins but it is that time of the year when exercising may be difficult and no pleasure for dog or handler. Heads and expressions were in general pretty good although the occasional ‘foreign’ expression affected one or two dogs’ chances. My greatest concern was fronts which were not quite a broad as desired, coupled with forelegs which were not sufficiently well boned. This may be accompanied by a lack of forechest even in dogs that are of ample substance and body otherwise and with good strong heads. This affects the overall balance of the dog and as a result the placings. Movement overall was satisfactory. MPB (13,4) 1 Smith’s Tillcarr Fire Phoenix at Troystaff. Very promising 8mo brindle with all the attributes. Good bite, dark eye, good front, ample rib, short coupled, moved well. Was well worth the long second look I gave her when deciding the best puppy bitch. Should have a good future. Unlucky to meet the puppy class winner in the challenge 2 Wells Wellsstaffs Shine a Light. Another promising youngster of 7m. Good mouth, dark eye, sound enough fore and aft.
