STAFFORDSHIRE BULL NATIONAL TERRIER 16 Judge: Mrs J Higgins (Acrestaff) Dogs - Dean Cund Bitches BEST OF BREED : 1293 STANWAY Mrs E A & Mr P T Waystaff What A Cracker STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE BITCHES NATIONAL TERRIER 16 Staffordshire Bull Terriers BITCHES – Many thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge at the world’s premier terrier show, I consider it a great honour. I was privileged to have such a high quality entry of bitches to judge with real depth of quality throughout the classes. Many thanks to my two excellent ring stewards Gary Hinsley & his wife Alison for doing such a super job & keeping the ring flowing. My puppy bitch class had real depth of quality with my first five placings being of a very high standard & I’m sure a few will go on to take top honours in the future. I was very impressed with my final line up & would have loved to have been able to award a number of them a CC such was the quality on display. I found a number of exhibits looked super front on but when viewed in side profile lost out, toplines continue to be a problem falling away too rapidly as well as flat pelvic slopes were evident. This spoils the profile picture of the whole dog & needs addressing which is the reason I always ask for exhibits to stand in profile as opposed to front on. I’m interested in the whole dog not just part of it. Another little grip of mine is conditioning, this is something every exhibitor is in control of, with a bit more effort placings could well of changed, good conditioning serves a purpose & isn’t just for looks alone. Many thanks to each & every exhibitor for the opportunity to judge your wonderful dogs & for the excellent sportsmanship our breed is famous for.
