STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 13

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

I found there was greater consistency in the dogs than the bitches & as a consequence my decisions were somewhat easier to make. There were a number of dogs & bitches who looked very good set up but this did not translate well when moving. It was nice to hear the furore from the ringside especially after the award to the BCC winner.

VD (1)

1 Davies & Mace's Ch Stormbull Solo, alone but what a fine example of the breed he is. His condition belies his age, maintaining the maturing & tone of a dog much younger. His ring presence & response to his handler was first class. RCC, he certainly made me think that some good dogs are retired from competition far too early.

MPD (6)

1 Sutcliffe's Pendlestaff Firestorm, r/w, good in size & has a balanced outline, head shape is well proportioned with good eye colour, positioning & size, correct bite, neat & tidy front & hindquarters that are developing well. Moved quite well for one so young & responded to his handler. In nice condition;

2 Membury's Mitzstaff Union Jack, brindle, like 1 he impressed me enough to think they both will be competitive as they continue to mature. Good head proportions with the attributes of a clean bite, good dark eyes, ideally set & good ear carriage, body of good length & moved well. Handler got the best out of him. Very little to choose between him & 1, I just liked 1's better animation;

3 Malpas' Spittnock Ark At Him.

PD (6)

1 Higgins' Acrestaff O'Grady, dark brindle, in first class condition & handled to advantage. Good head in size & shape, prominent stop, dark round eyes ideally set that provides a keen expression, correct bite with good size teeth, ear carriage & set correct. Neat straight front with good width of chest, elbows held tightly into his ribcage. Hindquarters nicely angulated allowing him to cover the ground with drive. correct tail set & carriage, this with a good topline provides a lovely outline. BPD;

2 Lamb's Staffwize Musketeer, dark br/w, another first class puppy, that along with 1 will ensure the future of the breed will remain competitive. At his age I would be satisfied with how he is developing. Good in size, balancing in height to weight ratio, head well shaped although not quite as strong as 1. Bodily he matches up & moves with ease maintaining a good topline standing & on the move. Well handled;

3 McClement's Stormfire Billy Boy at Jodanzoc.

JD (9)

1 Stanway's Waystaff What A Cracker, b/w, balances well throughout & carries himself very well, moving with ease, lovely head shape, dark round eyes that watch your every move. Correct arranged teeth with a good underjaw, straight front with good width of chest, shoulders held tightly into a well sprung ribcage. Underline rising gradually to a defined waistline. Hindquarters are developing well providing him with a good stride, presented & handled very well;

2 Payton's Tonpay Barmy Army, dark brindle, appealed in type & much could be said of him as 1, I just preferred the more defined head shape of 1. These two will be adversaries throughout their showing careers I feel sure. In good condition;

3 Thomas' Samtan Black Justice.

YD (7)

1 Beeby & Watson's Geordiestaff Diamond Dexter, dark brindle, neat & tidy throughout, balancing out very well. Head well proportioned with the attributes of dark round eyes, good ear texture helping to provide a keen expression. Showing enough promise that will I feel sure see him as a competitor in more senior classes. Shown to advantage;

2 Monestina's Itchenboren Celtic Obsession, red, I very much admired his type & style, having a lovely head in shape & size, well developed cheek muscles & strong underjaw. Correct bite with good sized teeth. Straight front with well boned legs & tight feet. Well let down in the brisket tapering up to a strong waistline & hindquarters. Well handled throughout. Very little dividing these two;

3 T Barmy Army.

GD (2)

1 Cramer's Staffstyle You Got The Love, not the most competitive of classes but both dogs were of good type & had features that were pleasing. 1 just had that much more ring presence & moved a little more positively.

PGD (11)

1 Monestina's Itcheboren Night Fury Dust, dark br/w, good in outline with a strong well proportioned head shape, clean bite & good underjaw, well angulated forehand with good spring of rib, short coupled to strong hindquarters. Moved freely maintaining a level topline throughout. In first class condition;

2 Efreme's Ashbull O'Toole, dark brindle, good headed dog with ideal depth & length of muzzle, well balanced in the body being strong & sound over his quarters. Moved freely but occasionally tended to fail in topline. A lot to like about him, he is a dog who will always be in contention. Well handled;

3 English's Engstaff Made In England.

LD (13)

1 Kimber's Kimstaff Harry Potter, dark br/w, fits the Standard without exaggeration, having good bone structure & muscletone, head well proportioned in balance with his body, correct mouth with good size teeth evenly aligned incisors & interlocking canines. Straight front, good width & depth of chest, well let down in brisket. Moved freely & responded well to handler, in first class condition;

2 Matviakova & Choma's Satip Sorboss at Vrabarbull, dark brindle, appealed in many respects being sturdily built of good type, head is clean, strong & in balance with his body. Correct bite, dark round eyes, good ear set & carriage, defined stop, his hindquarters are well angulated & muscled, well let down hocks, correct tail set & carriage. Just preferred the animation of 1. In good coat condition;

3 Mignano-Fricker's Aboriingal Boomerang Boy of Calavey.

OD (14)

1 Corcoran's Ch/Ir Ch Zakstaff What's The Story, dark brindle, very competitive class that I would have liked to handed out a number of first cards. This dog who I did make the award to is in my opinion a dog of outstanding merit. Masculine well defined head ideally proportioned, correct dentition with large interlocking canines & even aligned incisors. He has balance with power, grace & athleticism, plus that important factor of ring presence, his front is straight with good boned legs & well padded feet, his muscled neck tapers into an excellent spring of rib, strong defined waistline coupled to well angulated & hindquarters this allows him to cover the ground with an economical of effort. Tail set & carriage helped to provide a lovely outline, he was at all times in complete unison with his handler. CC, BOB & G4;

2 Plant's Ch Kyraloebis Italian Gigalo, dark brindle, a dog I have much admired since seeing him as a puppy & he is an excellent ch of the breed. Handsome masculine head that is very well defined & expressive, dark round well set eyes provide a lovely expression. Ideal in weight to height ratio gives him a first class outline. Well muscled thighs bend of stifle compliment his excellent forequarters, his movement was free & supple with the minimal amount of lift. Handled to perfection;

3 Hedges & Bogovcic's Suurisuun Boppinghams Birulal.

VB (3)

1 Williams' Ch Valglo Annastasia, b/br, in lovely condition & in no way does she look her age. It is easy to understand how she obtained her title, she balances out very well with sound fore & hindquarters, moves well & was at all times in tune with her handler;

2 Hurst & Bibby's Ch Taraiel Trinity, dark br/w, as with 1 presented in first class condition, she put in a first class performance making my decision difficult, 1 had just that extra sparkle;

3 Fletcher & Seedhouse's Granitangel Solar Flare.

MPB (5)

1 Stanway's Mosstrooper Making Mischief at Waystaff, r/pied, showed so confidently for one so young, beautiful in outline, nicely shaped head with a most appealing expression. Fore & hindquarters developing well with good bone structure. At this age I think she is showing a lot of promise, handler got the best from her, in excellent condition. BP;

2 Booth & Grimwood's Dalstaff's Razzmatazz with Ramblestaff, dark brindle, a lovely puppy who has a lot going for her. Appealed in type & her overall shape & size, developing all round very well & all I would be looking for at this age. Well presented;

3 Raynsford's Raynstaff Didja Ever.

PB (6)

1 Hart's Albermarbull Ice Diamond, red pied, has a lovely balanced outline with good head qualities & appealing expression, body of good length with ribcage that is developing well, short coupled to good hindquarters. Moved positively maintaining a good topline. Maturity must be waited for with patience but showing a lot of promise;

2 Desmond's Elite Elegance, dark brindle, pleasing head, neck & forehand, body of ideal length with good ribcage & defined waistline. Height to weight ratio very good, moved with confidence & responded well to her handler, good prospect;

3 Farka's Okwaho Lucky Star.

JB (9)

1 Ollard's Jodel's Florentine, red, beautiful in outline, lovely head & expression, correct dentition with cheek muscles helping the head shape, dark round eyes well set & ears set & carried, smart & composed young bitch. Sound forequarters with nice width of chest, well boned legs & good padded feet. Good action moving maintaining a level topline, in lovely condition, very well handled;

2 Butler's Sweenworstaff Storm Warning at Joemikeste, r/w, developing well having a balanced outline, all the basics are there she just needs to firm up making transition to full maturity, no concerns re her mouth which is formed correctly having good sized teeth evenly arranged. Gave a good account of herself when moving being at ease with her handler. A close decision just preferred the little extra strength of head of 1;

3 Asker's Dazmarnic Kiss N Tell.

YB (4)

1 Jackson's Aus Ch Strongstorm Style Is Eternal at Jackabyte, dark brindle, initial look is impressive & this stands up well when handling her. Pleasing outline & good angulation, forehand neat & compact complimenting her hindquarters. Neat & tidy head with correct bite, good reach of neck that tapers nicely into a good ribcage, moves with purpose & responds to her handler who knows how to get the best out of her. In first class condition. I would like to see her in stronger competition where I think she would do equally as well;

2 Moorcroft's Ashbull Omee, dark brindle, as with 1 I think would hold her own in stronger competition. Good in size & of good type, head well shaped with eyes & ears helping to provide a lovely keen expression. Covered the ground well maintaining a good topline, a lot to like about her. In lovely coat condition.

GB

1 Byrne, Gartland & Wall's Manark Maggie May, dark br/w, alone but I feel sure on examining her she would have been competitive, Of good type & pleasing outline. Head is neat & tidy with good clean bite, forequarters nicely angulated & shoulders held tightly into her ribcage, moved well both ways, her handler did well with her.

PGB (6)

1 Stokes' Oxstoks Cherry Blossom, red pied, pleasing outline with good angulated forequarters & hindquarters. Neat well shaped head with dark round eyes that give a lovely feminine expression. Correct bite with good length of neck that tapers nicely into her ribcage. Body of ideal length, moves well, presented & handled well;

2 Robinson & Cox's Jefmor Fire And ice of Hamason, red, balances out well with height to weight just right, well muscled & not over angulated but symmetrically balanced. Moves very well with a steady even stride. Tail set & carriage correct. Very little to choose between these two, 1 just a little tidier in the shoulders. In Good condition & at all times in complete liason with her handler;

3 Gold's Ashbull Ofee.

LB (13)

1 McPhail's Scorgule Stolen Kisses, dark brindle, her type & style cannot be ignored having a head that is particularly pleasing with good skull to muzzle proportions being ideal. Correct dentition with strong deep underjaw. Large round dark eyes & well placed & carried ears. Good width & depth of chest with well boned legs, moved freely & at all times at ease with her handler who showed her to advantage. In first class condition;

2 McDermott's Macadermus Summer Lady, dark brindle, appealed with her deep well ribbed body, pleasing head with correct mouth & strong underjaw, large dark round expressive eyes, well placed & carried ears, good width of chest & let down of brisket. 3 Martin's Alvis Northern Lights.

OB (10)

1 Funnell's Kewaunee Pocahontas for Powerpack, dark brindle, I had observed this bitch from the ringside on numerous occasions & I reserved my opinion of her until I had this opportunity to handle her. I was pleasantly surprised. She is beautiful in outline, lovely head shape with correct dentition, she has strength all through still maintaining her femininity, so well constructed in body, clean muscled neck that tapers nicely into her shoulders. Fore & hindquarters well angulated, moves with a good even stride covering the ground ith the minimal of lift. Has excellent ring presence, & responds well with her handler. In first class condition. CC;

2 Hirst & Bibby's Ch Taraiel Ciara, it is not hard to appreciate why this bitch is a ch of the breed, she is so very well constructed & viewed from any angle she fits the bill. Her ring presence is first class & her ground covering action is quite effortless maintaining a level topline standing & on the move this produces a lovely outline. Throughout her time in the ring she responded well to her handler. In excellent condition. RCC;
