STAFFORDSHIRE BULL DARLINGTON 15 Judge: Mrs M Ward BEST OF BREED : 1384 ROGERS Mr & Mrs J & C Ch Berrystock Charlies Angel JW STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE DARLINGTON 15 Staffordshire Bull Terriers My thanks to exhibitors for a great entry of 169 dogs, 171 entries, few absentees, with the weather mostly kind, & good stewards keeping everything running smoothly. It goes without saying with such an entry I was nitpicking making a cut even before final class decision. Often we hear our breed being pulled down but we have an abundance of good dogs & bitches both home grown & abroad so let’s not always dwell on the small faults but celebrate the virtues while taking those faults into consideration, keeping the strength & agility of the breed. Today I saw plenty of that, my appreciation also of a great ringside who appreciated the close decisions & the quality of the exhibits today. Well loved companions a pleasure & honour to see these lovely lads, both exhibitors to be congratulated on their superb condition. In all the puppy classes for both sexes maturity played a part in placings but was impressed with the overall standard, including those unplaced. VD (2) 1 Marachowska & Marachowski’s Ch Kalhols Black Magic at Passernomen, 7½ years young, with no loss of body power, solid skull, good stop, lovely dark eye, pronounced cheek muscles & good bite. Plenty of strength in neck, well boned legs with width to match, ribs well sprung & plenty of muscletone in rearquarters as proved on the move, showing the ringside he still had what it takes, incredible power in both body & head; 2 Fletcher & Seedhouse’s Jsy Ch Graniteangel Zircon, powerful well boned legs & solid front belying his 8 years, this powerful headed lad had good skull, still well muscled with distinct stop & short foreface. Strength in neck, well boned throughout body with plenty of strength in front, quarters not lost their power as he also strode round the ring reminding the onlookers he was still a force to be reckoned with. MPD (5) 1 McClelland’s Rochlawie Behold The Hour, liked the overall size to this 9 months b/br/w youngster. Lovely shaped head, well proportioned with good stop & cheek muscles developing, muzzle in keeping with age & good bite. Front developed well for age, in at loins with rearquarters to match, confident youngster with nice eye placement, he looks straight at you. Loved his happy outlook; 2 Asker’s Dazmarnic Cetewayos Kraal, giving way on age today but loved the look of this smashing 7 months r/w dog. Well proportioned head, good stop, clean bite, overall body in keeping with age. Nice front & rib well developed, has the bone & substance for this stage of development & was not overawed by the occasion; 3 Winwood & Tunnah’s Nerotoro Dark Element. PD (6) 1 Schneuing’s Hulk Hogan Great N Glory, solid well finished head, breadth to skull, good eye, cheek bumps & stop with clean bite, on this 10 months youngster. Lovely neck & front, legs & skeleton structure already well developed, as with rib. Substance matched his body shape & full of confidence on the move, gave his handler all that he asked for BPD; 2 Clough’s My Top Gun Maverick, lovely ear carriage on this 9 months youngster, solid head for age. Quite well developed, with breadth to skull, good stop & cheek muscles to match, clean bite & strong neck. Body well shaped with rib developing & in at loins, not quite the body development of 1 making the difference but early days; 3 Gabel’s Jackpot Of Spirit-Staffs. JD (11) 1 Lee & Colman’s Bullhawk Archie Bold, powerful impressive solid 17 months b/br, but handler controlled him well. Super head, liked the balance of skull to foreface ratio, good dark eye & neat ears to finish the picture. Strong front structure with enough lung room & solid strong boned legs, well laid back shoulders into good ribcage, well in at loins & strong well muscled rearquarters gave him the power thrust on the move. Sound dog with overall balance & construction gave him the edge over a quality class; 2 Rowbotam’s Elitebull Black And Brass, excelling in head this 13 months lad, good balance between the head & earset, distinct stop & good cheek muscles, lovely dark eye, clean mouth & underjaw OK. Legs well separated with strong neck & good rib, in at loins with rear angulation OK, did well moving on the grass. Liked the overall picture of this lad just out of puppy so as expected not the strength of 1, but has more to come; 3 Baldwin’s Elitebull Night Mission. YD (5) 1 Hedges & McBride’s Brohez Rubin Hurricane, beautifully balanced headed dog, chiselled head shape, good cheek muscles with distinct stop, liked his eye & ear placement adding to expression. Good ratio of skull to foreface, plenty of lung room between solid boned legs, nice shoulder placement into strong neck, well sprung ribs & in at loins into muscled rearquarters; 2 Marchasson’s Estelle Cassius Clay Great ‘N Glory, also excels in head shape, lovely shaped ears & well placed dark eye, both adding to the overall picture. Balanced between skull & foreface, strong clean bite, good neck & shoulders well placed, liked his rib & not disappointed on the rear action when he moved, just not so confident on the grass today but I was nitpicking; 3 Hirst & Bibby’s Taraiel Busta Rhymes. GD (1) 1 E Black And Brass. PGD (10) 1 Johnsen & Homlong’s Galeostaffs I Know My Shit, hard fought decision, a lovely class of quality but loved this stunning r/w lad. Strong head & lovely balanced overall body shape, strength in skull with balance to foreface, good stop & strong cheek muscles, clean mouth & underjaw. White chest only adds to overall picture with plenty between the legs & strength in bone, without being overdone. Shoulders well laid, strength in neck & lovely strong rib & tuck-up, strength in quarters with well muscled rear action winning the day. Was well in contention for top honours; 2 Downes’ Waystaff Double Trouble, also a strong headed & bodied r/w dog that takes your eye. Lovely masculine head, strength in foreface matching skull shape, good stop & cheek muscles. Strong skeleton structure that pleases the eye as you handle him, well fronted with strength in bone not overdone. Plenty of lung room & good strong neck, with shoulders to match front assembly, moved well in front & rear. Slight more muscle on 1 that made the decision today; 3 Whitley’s Ginstean Black Bomber. LD (18) Lovely class of quality even in the cut good dogs going out. 1 Butler’s Ramblestaff Cos I Could, what a lovely profile on this fit b/br/w dog, at any angle he stands foursquare. Strength in head with strong skull, width in muzzle, depth of stop, & cheek muscles to complete the picture. Clean mouth with good strong teeth, lovely eye & ear placement adding to expression, strong neck flowing into well laid shoulders, depth of brisket with well boned legs & strong ribcage. Nice tuck-up into well muscled hindquarters, compact, nothing overdone yet still showing strength & agility on the move with top line remaining level. Was pushed hard but never stopped showing, happy to award RCC; 2 Stanway’s Waystaff What A Cracker, aptly named! You need to handle this dog to feel the strength & muscle. Super head structure, powerful but not coarse, good skull shape balanced with foreface & stop, used his ears & has strength in forequarters. Plenty between legs, no hint of weakness, good spring of rib & this dog excels in rearquarters, good strong muscle that really shows on the move with powerful hind action. Close decision; 3 Membury’s Mitzstaff Crazy Cuz. OD (15) 1 Stone & Bruton’s Zakstaff Tumour Has It, lovely balanced outline in profile, beautifully presented hard & fit. Strong headed b/br, solid deep chiselled skull with depth of stop & balance of foreface, clean mouth & underjaw, good cheek muscles with neat ears & good eye placement finish the picture. Depth of chest with plenty of heart & lung room, well defined rib into strong loins with good bone structure & substance just right for covering into strong rear end. Well muscled throughout with no lack of strength on the move either way. Loved his balance & conformity with no hint of exaggeration. Happy to award CC, BOS; 2 Branten & Branten Simons’ Int/Nl/Ch VDH Frisian Staff’s Enter Sandman, good type & shape to this strong b/br. No hint of weakness in front or behind, good width between strong boned legs & nice lay of shoulder. Liked his strength in neck & lovely spring of rib. Plenty of muscletone in hindquarters & not disappointed on the move. Was considered in the final line-up, just preferred the tad shorter body in the other dog but little in it & splitting hairs; 3 Ryan’s Rubericla Black Starscream. VB (5) What a lovely class of mature ladies, all deserved a placing all brought in beautiful condition & enjoying their trip out. My regrets to them that there was not a placing for them all. 1 Hopkins’ Ch Trufflestaff Monifa Kanika, 8 years young, just does not seem right that she is in the veteran class because of her overall body shape & muscletone & beautiful shaped head. No loss of muscle in either head or body, beautiful foreface width to skull, depth to stop & short foreface. Lovely neat rose ears with an expression to die for, strength in body tone & well muscled forequarters, up in loins & rearquarters still well muscled. Parallel movement both fore & aft, with topline still firm, this lady loves the ring she oozes quality even now! 2 Funnell’s Ch Kewaunee Pocahontas for Powerpack, another 8 years young lady with all her attributes still well intact & strutting her stuff with no lack of power or presence. Lovely head with strength intact from breadth in skull to foreface & cheek muscles, sparkling eye & use of her ears. Still plenty of width in front & no loss of bone strength or muscletone, up in rib with just the right amount of substance, up in loin with rear action showing still strength & muscle; 3 Mayren’s Kirniastaff Paige Lil Gizmo. LB (19) Lovely class even good dogs going out before the cut. A real pleasure to judge. 1 Chaine’s Crudha Breizh Izel, beautiful headed b/br with super dark eye full of expression that followed you. Breadth of skull with depth of stop & correct ratio for foreface to balance, good cheek muscles, & clean mouth with strong underjaw. In at loins & plenty of strength in back quarters, pushed hard in the challenge; 2 Butler’s Seenworstaff Storm Warning at Joemikeste, beautiful pigmented r/w with eye colour to match, lovely head & ears to enhance expression. As per above, loves the ring & shows her attributes to advantage. Well structured head with good stop, body hard to fault, with legs well separated, nice brisket strong neck, short compact with well sprung ribs, lovely tuck-up & well muscled rearquarters. Lovely action both fore & aft, close decision, just preferred that little extra in the head on 1; 3 Houwaart’s Kegs On Legs Fabulous Diva. OB (16) 1 Roger’s Ch Berrystock Charlies Angel, when it comes to the final challenge some dogs just have that little extra. Mostly, if we are technical, it is the head shape structured with the eye & ear placement, the body that flows from the front parts with strength & shoulders that align with the neck & the ribcage up into the neatest of tucks but still visible strength going into those rearquarters, the front & rear movement parallel. To have that strength in head & body & still not lose that femininity is hard but for me this beautiful bitch says it all & when it came to the challenge my eyes just kept returning to her. She has all that plus the charisma that made me happy to award CC, BOB; 2 Desmazes’s Int Ch Waywardstaff High Scary Cookie, lovely dark eye enhancing expression with strong but feminine head shape, good breadth to skull deep through & balanced with foreface, clean mouth, nice underjaw, plenty between legs with strength of bone & neck well ribbed into tuck-up. Lovely all round shape from any angle but won through on the strength of back quarter, no hesitation on the move both parallel fore & aft with strength in hind action taking her through to RCC; 3 Jackson’s Ch/Aus Ch Strongstorm Style Is Eternal at Jackabyte.
