STAFFORDSHIRE BULL CRUFTS 25 Well, what can I say. What an honour it was to be invited to judge dogs at this very prestigious show. Thank you very much to the Crufts Committee for the invitation. The organisation and hospitality was spot on. It was a real pleasure to judge alongside my co judge Mrs Ann Corns, and it was made even more special that we both agreed with all our final decisions at the end of the show. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my very capable ring stewards Mr and Mrs Murdoch, they both did a sterling job keeping the ring running smoothly. Thanks go out to each and every one of you that came from near and far for giving me a wonderful entry and the opportunity to assess your dogs. I know how very expensive things are so once again a very big thank you. I was very much looking forward to judging dogs today,. I always try to look for dogs that are well balanced, fit, healthy and show good movement. In the past I have said that many exhibits have carried far too much weight, have been soft to the touch, splayed feet, and weak backends especially on the move, some showing very close front (in some cases crossing over) and rear end movement, all these were once again apparent in some today. I found there to be some very untidy mouth issues, ie: fully inverted canines, canines sitting in the gums and the odd undershot and overshot mouth. Unfortunately this is not for me. In other cases there are things owners can do beforehand to help their dogs look the part for any show eg cleanliness, grooming and fitness, these points will contribute in making your dog look better in the show ring. I would just like to add, I know we all like to have a first prize but any card at Crufts to many would be a great achievement. It disappoints me when exhibitors leave the ring before receiving their prize card. DOGS Vet (13) 1 Rowe & South Illori Akinlana JW ShCM VW. 10.5 year old B/Br. This old boy never fails me. His condition and fitness for his age is an example to all. He’s topsize and carries a lovely clean head, neat ears, dark well placed eyes, correct bite with big tight fitting canines. Lips although now grey are tight fitting. Clean straight front and stands well on strong pasterns with tight feet, beautiful rib and deep brisket, topline is spot on. Back end is strong and well angulated. This lad never disappoints with his free flowing movement. Well done 2 Funnell & Wiggins Powerpack Kilgobnet JW. 7.5 year old B/Br. This is another clean cut dog that has a lovely head shape, dark eyes, neat well placed ears, lovely length to muzzle, clean lips with a perfect bite, with well placed big canines. Clean well boned front, good pasterns and tight feet, lovely rib and brisket. Very good topline standing and on the move, well angulated rear end another that moved extremely well. 3 Preston Tillcarr Fire Starter JW MP (2) 1 Martinez Bullbrothers Timelord 7mth old Fawn/Wht nicely balanced puppy with a good head, dark mask, lovely dark round eyes, neat ears and a great expression. Strong well boned front, feet need to tighten up, hopefully this will come with age, nice rib and brisket, level topline, good rear end, moved and handled well. 2 Wells Wellsstaffs Young Warrior 8 mth old, nicely balanced B/Br with a nice head shape, neat ears, dark eye, correct bite, true straight front, good topline and well angulated rear quarters. Played up a little for his handler so didn’t move quite as well as 1st. Just lacks a little bit of confidence but hopefully this will come with age. P (10) 1 Jennings Elitebull Valentine 11 mth old R/Wht Pied, beautiful young puppy, topsize with a strong head but showing great balance and substance at this age. Eyes are well placed and are as black as coal, ears well set and when used create a cracking expression. Good underjaw with correct bite and correctly placed canines. His front is straight and well boned with shoulders well laid back, well up on pasterns with well padded tight feet. Lovely rib, correct depth of brisket, strong neck, level topline that was held on the move, good rear angulation and hocks well let down. Turned out in fantastic condition. Moved extremely well and in good unison with his lady handler, well done. I wish you all the best with him in the future!! BPD 2 Parry Berrystock Ambush 11 mth old, Another top quality youngster, standard size B/Br Lovely strong head, dark eyes, well set ears, great expression, correct bite, good strong straight front with ample bone, well up on pasterns with lovely tight feet. His neck is short and strong, shoulders well laid back with good rib and brisket, short coupled body, level topline, well angulated rear end, moved well. Again this lad was turned out in great condition, well done all the best for the future. 3 Hall Geordiestaff Local Hero J (14) 1 Buchan Happystaff Hakuna Matata This young dog is quality from his nose to the tip of his tail. Although he found it difficult to settle and gave his handler a hard time this did not detract from him winning the class today. He is a standard size Mahogany Brindle and White that has just got that look about him. Lovely head shape not over done, dark eyes, neat ears framing his great expression. He has tight fitting lips and a correct scissor bite with correctly placed canines. Lovely straight front, well up on pasterns and tight padded feet. Excellent laid back shoulders with good length of upper arm, deep well ribbed body showing me a great overall outline. The rear quarters are muscular and nicely angulated with a tight fitting short coat that was gleaming. Turned out in lovely condition and fitness. Once he settled he moved extremely well. This lad just needs a little fine tuning and I’m sure he will have a bright future, good luck. 2 Jackson Jackabyte Redemption (AI) Another quality standard B/Br/Wht that was a bit of a live wire for his handler. He seemed to be very excited. He has a strong clean head, dark eye, neat ears and a smashing expression, tight clean lips, correct bite with well placed canines, showing good round bone and a true front with enough depth of brisket and rib development. Good strength of back end with correct bend of stifle, once again this lad also gave his handler a hard time on the move, but once he settled into his stride I could see enough to justify good movement. The conditioning and fitness of this lad was one of the best on show today. Well done. 3 Duffield & Mansell - Duffield Sharmara Lacrnum Inflamari Y (20) 1 Parthaune & Arnold Saxonia Staffs Mister Muffin Top quality standard size B/Br/Wht I liked him a lot. Super headed lad with a cracking expression clean as a whistle showing correct proportions. Wide big nostrils, tight lipped, good underjaw with perfect dentition with big tight fitting canines. Neat well placed ears and dark eyes, beautiful clean straight front with ample bone and width, strong pasterns with neat well padded feet and short nails. Excellent body proportions, correct depth of brisket level with elbow with great spring of rib. Strong body core tapering at the loin. Well muscled rear quarters displaying a lovely bend of stifle, correct tail set. Turned out today in excellent condition and fitness, with gleaming short tight coat, moved extremely well. This lad was very pleasing to the eye from every angle, I liked him very much. Good luck with him in the future, I’m sure he will do some serious winning. 2 Johansson Te Ora Magic Secreteriat LV JCH INT JCH (ATC BB89975SWE) Lovely standard size B/Br super head shape with deep skull and clean strong muzzle with strong underjaw, lips are clean and tight, correct bite with large canines that are correctly placed. Dark round eyes, well placed neat ears that give a beautiful expression. Well boned strong straight front with good pasterns and tight well padded feet and short nails. Good spring of rib with deep brisket, compact body shape with nice definition to loin. Well muscled rear quarters with well bent stifles, moved and handled extremely well. Again this dog was turned out in fantastic condition and fitness, well done. 3 Dunkan Rhebelstaff Hunky Dory UG (17) 1 Sinclair & Hayward Glenskyla Lomond Lad JW Very smart standard B/Br of quality. He is so well balanced from all angles. He has a lovely clean head shape that has correct muzzle to skull ratio. Would prefer a slightly darker eye but they are round and well placed. Neat ears and a super expression. Clean tight lips, correct bite with large well placed tight fitting canines. Strong straight front with clean well laid back shoulders. Well up on pasterns with tight feet. He has well sprung ribs and deep brisket level to elbow, with a strong compact body. Level topline standing and on the move, a nicely angulated rear end with hocks well let down. Once he got into his stride he moved well. Condition and fitness very good. 2 Shepherd Harlivstaff Captain Coady Nicely balanced strong R/Wht with a good head shape with a dark mask. Lovely round dark eyes, neat well placed ears and when used he shows a lovely expression. Correct bite with large canines positioned correctly, good underjaw, straight well boned strong front with a deep brisket, pasterns and feet need a little work. Lovely body shape with good spring of rib, level topline, strong back end with a good bend of stifle. Moved and handled well 3 Wilson Baalzstarz Zibal G (11) 1 Clark Rowellstaff Easy Tiger Lovely standard size Tiger Brindle that is absolutely balanced throughout with no exaggerations what so ever. Classic head carrying well placed ears, dark round eyes, beautiful expression with strong foreface and clean tight lips. Correct mouth with correctly placed canines, strong front on strong well boned legs, nice pasterns with good feet. He has a good depth to his brisket with great spring of rib, tight body core and good tuck up to loin., hind quarters are muscular and well angulated. Good condition and fitness with a tight fitting short coat that was gleaming. Moved and handled well. 2 Kendall Marenystaff Lord Spiderman (IMP ESP) Very clean upstanding B/Wht Pied, finer type to 1st but never the less a lovely looking dog,. So well balanced in all areas, beautiful clean head not overdone, dark round eyes, well set neat ears giving a lovely expression, cleanest of lips with correct mouth with good dentition, canines correctly placed, shoulders well laid back with good length to upper arm. Straight front but pasterns and feet need to tighten up, ample rib with good underline, correct tail set, well angulated rear quarters. On the move the handler tends to string him up on the front, once I explained the issue it was rectified and he moved much better. Good luck with this. 3 Seaton Coolio In Gangsters Paradise Von Der Rennstadt (IMP DEU) PG (12) 1 Funnell Powerpack Severus Snape Another top quality upstanding B/Br that is so well balanced, clean head shape of correct proportions skull to muzzle ratio, correct bite with big well placed tight fitting canines, dark round eyes and well placed ears and a cracking alert expression. Front is clean and well boned, lovely pasterns and tight well padded feet. Shoulders well laid back with good length to upper arm. Stood four square showing lovely rib and deep brisket level to elbow. Good length of back maintaining a level topline standing and on the move, and a nice tuck up at loin. Correct tail set, well muscled rear quarters with good bend of stifle. He was turned out in excellent condition and fitness and was expertly handled. 2 Lloyd Kalostaff ES LO QUE ES JW Quality B/Br excellent from all angles, fabulous head and stunning expression, dark round eyes, well placed neat ears, clean lips, strong underjaw, correct bite with lovely big tight fitting canines, short strong neck, good straight front with strong well boned legs displaying strong pasterns with tight well padded feet with short nails. Good rib with good depth to brisket, level topline. He is nicely tucked up at the loin, back end is strong with good muscle tone and well angulated. Moved with drive and handled extremely well. 3 Kenny & Kenny Farrelly Brockmar Because You Loved Me (ATC BA32083IKC) Mid Limit (12) 1 Pickett Valglo Top Gun Standard size top quality B/Br that is so well balanced, excellent strong head of correct proportions, deep skull, strong clean muzzle with good underjaw. Perfect scissor bite with correct placement of canines. Round dark eyes, small neat well positioned ears that when used create a cracking expression. Strong well boned straight front with shoulders well laid back, pasterns ok but feet need to tighten up a bit. Strong short neck, deep brisket with a great spring of rib and short coupling with good topline. Nice tuck up at loin, good rear angulation with correct bend of stifle. Turned out in lovely condition and fitness, moved and handled well. 2 Gabel Yakuza The Real Machine Of Spirit Staff’s (ATC BA26523 DEU) Stong headed Red with a broad skull showing a distinct stop, good ear placement, eyes dark and a lovely dark mask showing great pigmentation, pronounced cheek bumps with good underjaw, perfect bite with correctly placed canines. Front broad and straight with good bone, well up on pasterns with tight feet, tremendous spring of rib and deep brisket, good underline into nice tuck up at loin. Strong well muscelled rear end that is well angulated, moved with drive, handled well. 3 Green Sikaistaff Black Barrel at Cocostaff JW L (10) 1 Jones Kamaristaffs Royal Rumour JW Outstanding top quality B/Br that was turned out today in fantastic condition. Stood four square showing a lovely combination of strength and balance in his short gleaming shiney coat. He has a beautiful head shape that is strong yet clean and shows the correct proportions without exaggeration. Head is strong and deep through with correct length to muzzle with big open nostrils. Lovely dark round expressive eyes and perfectly placed neat rose ears, good cheek bumps with clean tight lips and strong underjaw. Correct scissor bite with big well placed tight fitting canines. Lovely clean well boned straight front displaying good width, strong pasterns and tight well padded feet. Strong neck and well laid back shoulders, deep brisket, well ribbed back with a good tuck up at loins. Level topline standing and on the move, good length of back and correct tail set, strongly defined muscled rear quarters with correct bend of stifle and hocks well let down. He moved effortlessly in tune with his very experienced handler showing good confirmation from every angle. Pleased to award him the RDCC today. Thank you for bringing him and all the best for the future. 2 Lloyd-Williams Cwmhaf Celtic Quest Upstanding smart looking B/Br showing good balance for size from all angles. Lovely clean head shape of good strength, dark round eyes and correctly placed small rose ears when used create a cracking expression, good underjaw with correctly placed canines, well up on pasterns with tight feet. Clean well laid back shoulders with correct depth of brisket, beautiful spring of rib, short coupled with tight body core and well tucked up in the loins. Nothing overdone on this boy, he shows a lovely clean outline and looks great in profile, back end is nicely angulated, well muscled and firm to the touch. He was turned out today in fantastic condition and fitness., moved and handled well. 3 Kirk Kirstaff The First Avenger JW O (42) 1 Hart & Halifax CH Jackstaff Made A Boy For Albermarbull Wow, what a class this was. I certainly had my work cut out. Stunning topsize White with Red markings,. Strong, powerful, impressive dog with a beautiful strong, clean masculine head of excellent proportions with no excess flesh. He has great bone with everything in the right place. Stood four square on well boned legs. Lovely eye placement, neat ears which he uses to his advantage to create a wicked expression. Big black nose with open nostrils. Clean in lip with strong underjaw, correct scissor bite with large well placed canines. Strong, straight well boned front with width and lovely forchest, stands well up on pasterns with beautiful well padded tight feet with short nails. Strong neck into correct laid back shoulder placement. Superb depth to brisket that’s level with elbows, great width and depth to ribs with a solid topline, short coupled with strong, tight body core and well tucked up at loin. His strong rear quarters are well angulated and muscled that show good definition to first and second thigh. The movement of this dog is fantastic, he moves freely and so parallel with plenty of power and drive. Turned out in amazing condition and fitness. Thank you for bringing him and allowing me the pleasure of assessing this fantastic dog. Today, in my opinion I could do nothing other than give him the DCC and along with my co judge Mrs Ann Corns award him BOB I wish you all the very best with him in the future. Good luck. 2 Butler Alport On Tour at Eternalco I have previously judged this dog as a puppy. I saw potential in him then, and awarded him best puppy, so today it was no surprise to me to see how he has turned out into a stunning dog. B/Br with loads of fire in his belly (great!) keeps his handler on his toes. Standard size of great quality, superb head shape with deep broad skull and good length to muzzle showing a lovely blend of Bull and Terrier. Good round eyes, well placed ears and when used show a keen expression, open nostrils, good underjaw and perfect scissor bite with some of the biggest canines on show today. True, straight well boned front, good pasterns and tight feet, strong short neck with good lay back of shoulders, deep brisket, well sprung ribs, short coupled with correct underline, strong body core and well tucked up in the loin with a level topline. His rear end is well muscelled with a good bend of stifle that is correctly angulated. His movement was sound with plenty of drive. This dog was in super condition and fitness.
