STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE MIDLAND COUNTIES 13

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

A big thanks to the committee of Midland Counties for making me very welcome.

My stewards were efficient to a T, everything running so smoothly, enabling me to just ‘judge’.

Thank you to all the exhibitors for entering under me, I know some will have been pleased, others not so, but that is dog showing! Something that does not seem to have improved much since I last judged the breed & that is cleanliness, I had to use a lot of wipes due to the dirt & smell of several exhibitors. Just because our breed has a short coat & doesn’t require hours of grooming this doesn’t mean to say they should not be presented in a pristine condition. The other thing I was a little concerned about is the interpretation of a thin stripped out dog being a fit dog, this is not the case, our breed needs to have substance & the right amount of muscle. My last overall impression is that we must not lose sight of producing feminine bitches.

MPD (9,1a)

1 Crowther’s Megansmambo Duke, stocky b/br, good short stop, neat ears, moved well, very much a baby but should have a bright future. BP;

2 Houghton’s Belterstaffs Ginger Joe, very attractive red with lovely white chest, slightly taller than first, good head shape but would like owner to try & get his ears forward (they are lovely neat well positioned ears) as this would improve his overall look, handled & moved very well, another to hopefully have a good future;

3 Thomas’ Biggleswick Funcky Devil.

PD (5,2)

1 B Ginger Joe;

2 Turner’s Mysticbulls Storm Trooper, b/br, not as well developed as 1, moved well;

3 Membury’s Mitzstaff Union Jack.

JD (10,1)

1 Payton’s Tonpay Barmy Army, have watched this dog as a puppy, (although never gone over him) & am pleased to say he has matured at right pace, as he has gotten older, good strong head, nice earset, dark eye, compact body, good bend of stifle, moved with good level topline, handled very well. He was a very strong contender for my reserve ticket but just lost out on maturity;

2 Ryan’s Rubericla Black Starscream, b/br, not so compact as 1, good pigmentation, pleasing head shape, moved well;

3 Walker & Rollin’s Seenworstaaff True Grit for Janikastco.

PGD (8,1)

1 Molineux & Hawkes’ Siamstaff New Moon at Druidhawk, b/br, I was struggling in this class until this boy appeared, compact, good bend stifle, neat ears, dark eye, moved with drive;

2 Horton & Dunn’s Albermarbull Running Riot, red with good dark mask, similar comments as to 1 although he was slightly longer in body however they good easily change places another time;

3 English’s Engstaff Made In England.

LD (16,1)

1 Choma & Matviakova’s Satip Sorboss at Vrabarbull, b/br, one of the last to be seen in this class & in my notes I comment – thanks god he was in this class! lovely head shape topped with neat ears, dark eye, good stop, move with drive & purpose, whilst keeping a level topline. Superb neat feet, presented in tip top condition, handled well. Just loved him. CC;

2 Kimber’s Kimstaff Harry Potter, b/br, slightly taller than 1 (but oh he did remind me of my dog ‘Goliath’), lovely expression, neat ears, maybe would have liked slightly better pigmentation around eyes, moved & handled well, definitely one of the clean dogs under me;

3 Mignano-Frick’s Aboriginal Boomerang Boy of Calavey.

OD (17)

1 Plant’s Ch Kyraloebis Italian Gigalo, just my type of dog, was unlucky to meet my CC winner today, good b/br, good head, pigmentation, ear shape, eye shape all good, moved well with level topline. RCC;

2 Hedges & Bogovcic’s Ch Suurisuun Boppinghams Birulai, smart r/w pied, different type to 1, good pigmentation, lovely dark eye & rims which is pleasing in a pied, moved & handled well, just not quite as mature as 1 for me;

3 Dewar’s Euphemia Drummer Boy.

MPB (14)

What a cracking class of puppies.

1 Partlett’s Starolestaff Mystic Mimi, b/br, loved this baby, had the best feet in the class, excellent pigmentation, good head shape, maturing at just the right pace, moved well;

2 Plant’s Speedhunter Samba, very similar to 1, maybe feet not so good but this can be worked on with the correct exercise, moved & handled well;

3 Norton’s Eclypstaff C’Est La Vie avec Tikkurilan.

PB (4

1 Stanway’s Mosstrooper Making Mischief at Waystaff, pied, nice head shape, ears good mouth also, moved well;

2 Sanders’ Ginstean Amazing Grace at Dominostaff, b/br, good expression, dark eye, moved & handled well;

3 Crowther’s Megansmambo Princess.

JB (13,1)

1 Ollard’s Jodel’s Florentine, clean lined red bitch, dark mask, dark eye contributing to her alert expression, neat feet, level top line, moved well (as did the whole class), lovely bitch really appealed to me, maturing at the right pace;

2 Jones’ Rougestaff Flaming Ice, attractive pied, needs to mature on & will become a nice bitch, moved really well, very different to 1 but liked them both nevertheless;

3 Butler’s Seeworstaff Storm Warning at Joemikeste.

PGB (10,1)

1 Foster & McDonald’s Revelry Soul Diva, b/br, very feminine, nicely animated using her neat ears to her advantage, good body shape, neat feet, good pigmentation, moved & handled well;

2 Turner’s Quatros Alexis Icandy, not as settled as 1 but nevertheless tidy bitch, feminine, moved well;

3 Ritchie’s Blazinstaff Reflection at Northsaltire.

LB (17,5)

1 Johnson’s Challenger Incantation for Tillcarr, liked her as soon as she came in the ring, feminine expression, lovely dark eye, ears used to her advantage, good bend of stifle, neat feet, moved & handled well, liked her;

2 Scotland’s Callastaff Madame George, she had matured nicely since I last saw her as a puppy (but not judged), different type to 1, nice expression, moved & handled well;

3 Moorcroft’s Ashbull Omee.

OB (11)

1 Mason’s Ch Dare To Dream, an answer to my dream! So glad she came in the ring, what a lovely bitch so feminine, put down in excellent condition, coat gleaming, correct muscletone, good bend of stifle enabling her to move well, lovely dark eye correct shape, neat ears no wonder I awarded her the bitch CC & BOB;

2 Funnell’s Ch Kewaunee Pocahontas for Powerpack, another bitch I have watched over the years, feminine lovely expression, moved & handled well, happy little soul!;

3 Simpson’s Ch Briganah Breaking Dawn.
