STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE THREE COUNTIES 12

STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER

We were allocated a spacious ring, airy and light, and I was delighted to have the services of those excellent stewards, Mesdames Lewis & Lines, who worked like well oiled clockwork. The slight downside was the slippery floor which did hamper some movement. At the moment Staffords are not exactly in a 'purple patch', as can be seen by the wide spread of CCs being awarded for which there may be several reasons. I found that I was faced with compromising on the virtues of many aspects of the animals, much more than I have had to in the past. The principal virtue I was seeking was 'type'. On the whole dentition was good, none were too stripped out, some stretched the imagination for 'desired height', but where have 'well sprung ribs' gone to and why do so many, some times experienced handlers, insist upon turning their charges front feet inwards?

MPD (10,1)

1 Hart's Albermarbull Red Riot. A well put together, compact red. Good expression, clean lips, deep foreface and skull, distinct stop, ears neat and well placed. Straight, wide enough front, nice rib for age, good weight of bone, level topline on the move, nice bend of stifle. BP.

2 Kimber's Kimstaff Harry Potter. Another pleasing br/w puppy with good pigmentation. Deep through, clean head, ears well placed if a little large at this stage, straight front, good rib for age, short coupled, good bend of stifle.

3 Davies' Kobellie Dark Prince.

PD (5,1)

1 Lewis' Charmonics Regal Lad. Striking br/w. Good expression, well proportioned head, well set ears. Wide, straight front, just enough bone, adequate rib, short coupled, well bent stifle. Good pigmentation.

2 Harris' Burlington Bullseye. Bl/w pied. Another nice expression, strong foreface and skull, large teeth, well placed ears, strong neck, straight front, adequate bone. Would prefer stronger pasterns. Nice rib, short coupled. Would look even better with more attention to the coat.

3 ButlerTorostaff Our Billy.

JD (15,3)

1 Plant's Kyraloebis Italian Gigalo. An extremely promising, well pigmented br/w teeming with type. Excellent expression coming from a well proportioned clean head, tight lip, distinct stop, round eyes, neat well placed ears. Strong neck, wide straight front, enough bone and rib, deep brisket, close coupled, nice turn of stifle. Moved out well showing a level topline. With a tad more maturity could be sweeping the boards. Res CC.

2 Fulford's Staffystyle Burning Heat at Bokido. A lot to like about this red/white. Nice expression, deep through head, well placed ears, strong neck, clean straight front. Enough bone, adequate rib, close coupled, stifles O K. Would have preferred a tighter topline on the move.

3 Davies' Eclypstaff Cuz I Can.

YD (11,2)

1 Bruton's Dark Knight. Dark br with a typical expression. Deep through foreface and skull, tight lip, strong white teeth, round eye, well set ears. Strong neck leading into well placed shoulders, true front, just enough bone, fair rib, short coupled, well muscled back end.

2 Winwood & Tunnah's Antroboss Tempesta Nera. Slightly smaller br/w but nevertheless in the Standard. Good outlook, strong head being deep through, distinct stop, well placed eyes and ears. Well placed shoulders, wide enough front, nice rib, close coupled, enough bone for size. Good bend of stifle and moved OK.

3 Fletcher & Seedhouse's Granitangel Supergiant.

GD (4)

1 Bryan's Valglo Legionnaire. Very strong headed br. Deep through head although would have preferred it a little cleaner, strong white teeth, good stop, eyes and ears well placed, powerful neck leading to correct shoulders. Straight front, ample rib, fairly short coupled, strong back end.

2 Cramer's Staffstyle Eskimo Pied. Pied, placed in the previous class. Nice expression spoiled by slightly large ears. Strong neck, good bone, enough rib and short coupled.

3 Thomas & Thomas' Ashstock Knight Shadow.

PGD (5,1)

1 Bryan's Valglo Legionnaire.

2 Turner's Quatros Neat & Tidy. Fair headed br/w. Deep enough through the head, ears well placed but slightly large. Handler tended to set the front too narrow, fair rib, short enough coupling, strong backend and moved OK. Would prefer a darker eye.

3 McDermott's Waystaff Dutch Chieftain.

LD (14)

1 Ogbourne's Welshstaff Credit Crunch. A compact and well balanced br/w package with oodles of breed type. Lovely expression from a well constructed clean head, deep foreface and skull, well placed eyes resulting from a distinct stop, good ears, nice cheek bumps, powerful neck leading into well placed shoulders. Well sprung ribs, deep brisket, good weight of bone, nicely padded feet, short coupled, good bend of stifle and well muscled rear end. Glad to see that he has fulfilled his promise since I last judged him as a puppy. CC & BOB.

2 Cooch's Gnobulls Funk Odyssey. Good type red/w presented in immaculate condition. Good expression, strong well proportioned deep through head, strong teeth, neat ears, good neck but shoulders slightly overloaded. Good width of front, ample bone, nice spring of rib and short coupled. Moved out well. Unfortunately hasn't quite fulfilled his potential since I last judged him.

3 Bruton's Zakstaff Black Baron.

OD (14,2)

1 Dewar's Euphemia Drummer Boy. Br/w fitting nicely into the Standard. Good head properties, deep through and clean in both foreface and skull, good eye set, distinct stop, neat well placed ears. Correct shoulders, wide enough front, ample bone, well padded feet. Fair spring of rib, close coupled and nicely muscled back end. Moved well. Just needed that bit of oomph to take top honours.

2 Davidson's Waystaff Dutch Minister. Lighter br/w also fitting well into the Standard. Lovely expression, strong foreface and skull, round eyes and neat set ears. Good neck leading into wide well placed front. Good bone and rib. Slightly long cast with a strong back end.

3 Matthews & Patrick's Absolute Star.

MPB (14,2)

1 Davies' Braunstaff Cannock Charmer. A nice outline to this br/w. Good expression, deep enough head, round eyes, strong white teeth, well placed ears. True wide front, enough bone, short coupled, nice bend of stifle. Plenty of time to develop the rib.

2 Martin's Alvis Northern Lights. Strong headed red/w with a pleasing expression. Good depth of head, slight wrinkle should fill out with age, good eye placement, ears a tad heavy but well placed. Nice wide front, good body for her age, strong pasterns, short coupled, firm back end.

3 Thisby's Kilghara Lady Guinevere.

PB (6,1)

1 Halifax's Seastaff Polar Force at Jackstaff. A well put together white with red patch. Powerful head, deep through, tight lips, excellent pigmentation, dark well placed eyes, neat well set ears. Strong neck leading into well placed shoulders. Nice weight of bone although a fraction weak in the pasterns. Good body shape, close coupled, stifles well bent and correct back end. Level topline. A close run thing in the challenge for Best Puppy. BPB.

2 Kendalls' Alport Miss Serenity for Jajca. Br/w with a pleasing outline. Strong enough foreface, deep skull, correct dark eyes and ears, strong neck and well placed shoulders. Good bone and sufficient rib. Short coupled with good back end. Would prefer a little more bend of stifle.

3 Rollin's Seenworstaff Test of Faith.

JB (18,3)

1 Harvey's Kyraloebis Sweetest Taboo. Upstanding br/w. Nice expression, strong foreface and skull, large white teeth, clean lips, dark well placed eyes, neat enough ears. True wide front, nice weight of bone although would prefer a more padded foot. Nice rib for age, close coupled, good bend of stifle. Moved out well with level topline. Sister of RCC dog - some litter!

2 Martinez's Noblestaff Voo Doo Star. Slightly smaller br/w. Pleasing strong through head shape, dark enough eye, distinct stop, well placed ears. Front just wide enough, nice spring of rib, good bone for size, short coupled, stifles O K, strong rear end, moved well.

3 Pearce's Eclypstaff Take a Bow.

YB (5,3)

1 Unverdadero Black Magic. Nicely put together br/w. Pleasing head, deep enough all through, distinct stop, strong neck leading to well placed shoulders. Front wide enough, nice rib and stifles, short coupled, strong back end.

2 Fryatt's Denbright Red Redemption. Red. Well over the measure and long all through.

GB (7,2)

1 Membury's Mitzstaff Scrummalicious. Br/w unplaced in the strong Junior class. Fair head shape, distinct stop, deep skull, ears well placed, strong neck, front just wide enough, nice bone, fair rib, short coupled and nice bend of stifle.

2 Kendalls' Alport Miss Serenity for Jajca.

3 Meara & Millgate's Sabahouse Black Bedevil at Millamear.

PGB (5)

1 Fiorellato's Deigian Just for Joy. This red/w won this class by a mile (or maybe a kilometre). Excellent expression, lovely head properties, deep through clean foreface and skull, dark enough well placed eyes, good stop, clean lips, neat ears. Strong neck leading to wide straight front with correct shoulders. Nice spring of rib, short coupled, plenty of bone, good bend of stifle, well muscled rear end. Moved well holding her topline. Well presented.

2 Robinson, Robinson-Cox & Cox's Jefmore Fire & Ice of Hamason. Fair headed red/w. Deep enough skull and foreface, distinct stop, dark eye, well placed ears, slightly overloaded shoulders, wide enough front, fair rib.

3 Hopkin's Trufflestaff Hasina Bahita.

LB (11)

1 Nicholson's Ballindona Bombshell. Compact br/w full of type. Excellent outline with well proportioned head. Strong through skull and foreface, tight lips, strong teeth, good stop and eye placement together with neat ears giving the desired expression. Short strong neck leading to well placed shoulders and correct wide front. Nice bone and well turned out pasterns, nicely padded feet. Ample rib, deep brisket with close coupling, stifle OK with a strong back end. Certainly showing great strength for size. Moved out well. CC.

2 Mason's Dare to Dream. B/br close to the first. Another with good head properties, deep through with a good outlook. Well placed round eyes, neat ears, strong neck leading to a wide front which is a little upright preventing the desired turn out of pastern. Shapely body with good rib and brisket, close coupled, well muscled rear end. Moved well. Would like a fraction more bend at the stifle. Nevertheless plenty of type.

3 Dickenson & Stewert's Devils Angel.

OB (11,1)

1 Funnell's Kewaunee Pocahontas for Powerpack. A well put together br/w bang in the Standard. Lovely outline with balanced clean head properties, deep and strong throughout, good stop, well placed dark eyes, well set ears, strong neck, correct front. Nice weight of bone, shapely rib, good coupling, stifles O K and nicely muscled back end. Moved and handled well. Res CC.

2 Winwood & Tunnah's Cursus Summer Storm. Powerful br/w. Good head shape, deep foreface and skull, distinct stop, nice round eyes, good ear set. Nice neck and shoulders, wide enough front, ample rib and bone, close coupled with a well muscled back end. What I would best describe as 'an honest type of bitch'.

3 Sem & Ullaflaen's Celunas Do Wah Diddy
