WELKS 24 Judge

STAFFORDSHIRE BULL WELKS 24 Judge: Mr Gary Nicholson I would like to thank the officers and committee for inviting me to judge at this prestigious Society show. A big thank you to my ring Stewards Margaret Garland and First timer Angie Cutts whom both did an excellent job making the ring run smoothly for me. Thank you to the exhibitors for bringing your dogs under me to give an opinion & taking my decisions sportingly. Please remember that this is my personal opinion on the day and places will change in the future. In some classes there were not enough cards to go around. A note to handlers/owners about presentation of exhibits, I saw some exhibits with their feet either turning in or straight in front, (the standard calls for feet turning out a little) doing this pulls the elbows out doing the exhibit no favours. Movement could be better stringing dogs up by the neck on a tight leash just causes a hackney movement in front rather than an extended front leg, quite a few had rolling fronts & were very close in the rear. Some exhibits had dirty teeth and long nails, if you really want to place, keep teeth clean and nails short, too many exhibits were simply not hard due to lack of roadwork, these are things that can give your dog a better chance of getting noticed. Please remember that this is my personal opinion on the day and places will change in the future. In some classes there were not enough cards to go around. VD (2.1) 1.
