WELSH JUDGE CRUFTS 11

WELSH TERRIER

It was an honour and a privilege to judge at Crufts and I would like to thank all those who entered under me.

VD (1)

1 Bornhausen's Ger/Lux/Dan Ch El Commander Von Der Canis-Burg. Typical Welsh head with correct expression, used ears to advantage. Long neck leading into level topline, tail set on top of well angulated and muscled hindquarters. Moved OK.

SpPD (1)

1 Broome's Romaunt Wicked Daze. Good head and expression, ears need to settle, reasonable neck leading into level topline, harsh jacket, tail set on top of good quarters. Moved true.

SpJD (2)

1 Broome's Romaunt Wicked Daze.

2 Williams's What Now Valucis. Not up to size for its age. Head not as long as required. Did not help its handler by playing up on the day.

PGD (3)

1 Smeets, Abmeyer & Bailey's Rick Of The Southern Point. Good all round Welsh terrier. Very well trimmed and presented. Moved well around the ring.

2 Heath's Cannyyatton Hot Shot For Jolliver. Short in foreface and a little straight in stifle but well presented and moved OK.

3 Franklyn's Jolliver Magical Wizzard. Good head, trimming needed to improve to complete the picture. Really enjoyed his day out.

LD (4,2)

1 Williams's Taicligh Star Trooper. Filled the outline and did not disappoint on the move. Good head, used ears well. Good dentition. Harsh jacket. Tail on top.

2 Cassidy's Boowire Wild Ginger. Not as well presented as one. Not using his ears to best advantage. Good jacket. Carried tail well. Moved ok.

OD (4,1)

1 Gothel & Houben's Lux/Slo Ch Rambo Von Der Hohen Flur. Stood out and commanded the ring as soon as he entered. Typical Welsh head and trimmed to give a good expression. Good dentition and bite. Cobby without being coarse. Level topline with good tailset. Well angled hindquarters. Harsh jacket and put down to perfection. Moved with drive and stood four square without need for handling from his handler. Pleased to award him BOB.

2 Robertson's Felstead Funny Fellow At Renevis ShCM. Up to size dog with a typical head and neck leading into good shoulders with level top. Moved well.

3 Avveduti's It/Fr Ch Cunnings Dj Dervish. Well presented and moved well but let down on the day by his bite.

SpJB (1)

1 Evans' Pendevour Passthetime. Typical Welsh head but ears carried a bit low. Good shoulders leading into a level topline. Jacket harsh and well trimmed. Tail set well on top of hindquarters. Moved OK.

PGB (6)

1 Byrne & Vickers & Punter's Saredon Dark Calling Over Eskwyre. Good head, expression. Level topline with tail carried on top. Extremely well presented and moved well.

2 Nicolson's Felstead Wishful Star. Correct head and trimmed to give a typical expression. Well laid shoulders with level topline and good tail carriage. Moved well but a little apprehensive on the day.

3 Heath's Cannyyatton Sweet Lilli. Finer boned. All proportions in the right place. Enjoyed her day showing. Res Humphries' Felstead Floral Beauty.

LB (3)

1 Griffiths & Pesci-Griffiths' Dobelands Ebony Lace. Very well trimmed with a harsh jacket and well presented. Moved well around the ring.

2 Humphries' Leadstaffs Morwenna. Well made without being coarse. Head trimming lost the Welsh expression. Moved OK.

3 Ashton's Jolliver The Lady In Red. Smallest of the three. Head a little broad but let down by her movement.

OB (6)

1 Avveduti's JSCW/It/Fr Ch Cunnings Diana. A beautifully presented and well handled bitch. Good strong head and feminine expression. Good dentition. Level top line with correct tail carriage. On the tiptoe of expectation. Moved very well around the ring. CC and challenged strongly for BOB.

2 Snow's Felcwm Topknot. Presented well with a typical head and expression. Dentition not as good as first. Moved well around the ring.

3 Booton's Boowire Mandarin Sunset. Moved and showed well. Res Spragg's Saredon Delta Dawn.
