WELSH CRUFTS 15 Judge(s): MRS N EVANS DO YOU WISH THAT THE KENNEL CLUB WOULD PUT IT'S OWN HOUSE IN ORDER? Is It Acceptable To Award BIS To A Dog That Refuses To Be Examined?read more PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION ABOVE. IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS USE AN ALTERNATIVE NAME. WELSH JUDGE CRUFTS 15 Welsh Terriers I felt privileged to be invited for the second time to judge Welsh Terriers at Crufts & enjoyed my day. Also thanks must go to my very efficient stewards. I was pleased with my winners, but found a lot of exhibits lacked the true Welsh type, several were too big & lacked substance & bone, in fact they were more like Wire Fox Terriers in black & tan clothing, also movement left a lot to be desired through a lack of mainly rear angulation & muscle, this is a working dog & movement should be free & active & this can only be achieved by having correct angulation both fore & aft. Sadly with that said the quality overall has diminished since I last judged them two years ago. I really feel breeders/exhibitors should take particular notice of the Standard & honestly compare their own dogs to this. PD (3) 1 Connell's Sonorra Blazing Hot, lovely Welsh type with clean head, good ear carriage, dark eye, alert expression, good reach of neck into good shoulders, short level topline, well ribbed back, tail well set & carried well, straight front with good bone, well angulated quarters, in good coat & well presented, moved out well. BP; 2 Spragg’s Westpenn Lazy Poker Blues, bigger but good type, good head with flat skull & strong jaw, well placed ears & good expression, nice neck, good front & rear angulation, tail on top, coat is coming, moved OK but had his mind on other things sometimes; 3 Thompson’s Sonorra Mr Bramble, nice type, head could be longer, & a bit more refined, would like a bit more neck, level short coupled topline & nice rear angulation. Moved OK. JD (2) 1 Witmond’s Boowire Ignite My Fire at Tiltser, good clean head, nice ear carriage, dark eye, flat skull, good expression, up to size & looks rangy at the moment, nice neck but upright shoulders, good angulation fore & aft, in good coat & moved well; 2 Nemesszeghy’s Terrierix Great Expectations, nice type & size, enough head, good reach of neck into good shoulders, level topline, good quarters & tailset, nice rear angulation, moved OK, would benefit with more body condition. PGD (6) A very difficult class to judge through lack of quality especially movement. 1 Crabtree’s Brocolitia Revenge, good type, nice head, could be cleaner in skull, good ear carriage & expression, very good coat texture & colour, movement OK but wide in front; 2 Jones’ Felstead Caio Dyma Fi at Cwngion, nice type, good head & ear carriage, dark eye, good expression, nice neck, level topline, short coupled, could do with more rear angulation, moved OK, good coat & colour; 3 Shackell & Redman’s Romaunt Waking The Dead, could be better in head, nice neck, correct tail set & carriage, moved OK.
