WEST HIGHLAND WHITE BOURNEMOUTH 19 Judge: Miss J Lanning BEST OF BREED : 444 BURNS, Miss M & BURNS Mrs A Burneze Wild At Heart WEST HIGHLAND WHITE JUDGE BOURNEMOUTH 19 Sometime since I had the pleasure of judging, one of our unspoilt native breeds. I was pleased at the general presentation. The harsh top coats, with traditional ‘finger and thumb’ trimming. Always a joy to see. A few years back, I felt there was a tendency by some handlers, to have their charges looking more like Bichon Frise. That phase now passed fortunately. I like to generalise on the breed and the main winners in particular. Size generally ideal. No heavy boned or over built, ones out today. My main winners of the highest merit and possessing group potential. This breed, requiring always a scissor bite, large strong teeth and a full compliment of teeth. I did find a number lacking in this respect. I am not a fanatic over mouths, would never throw the baby out with the water but it is worth noting that most visiting overseas judges will disqualify exhibits lacking a full compliment of teeth. It can be embarrassing in classes with small entries and subsequently Prize Cards withheld. Unfortunately, I had to withhold, report and disqualify a dog that had every intention of biting me. I appreciated when I had finished my judging, that it was a privilege and an honour to judge a breed at such a high point of excellence. MPD (4,1) 1 Gale Bellevue Sreeet Trader. Just six months.Very raw, with time to finish well. 2 Minett Duskhunter Diamond In D’skys. Same applies. Has the essentials. 3 Foster & Foster Thozow Master Of The House PD (1) 1 Bradbury Fourastay Fontayne. RCC. I really like this smart typical out going dog. He could have been better handled, but won well on his own merit. He well deserved his spot. Smart dog. Needs more ring training and has the potential to do well. JD (1) 1 Squire Bellevue Double Shuffle TAF. Excellent double coat, all male, just needs to firm in front. PGD (3,1) 1 Bell Bellevue Splash of Luck. Won here on grand type, pleasing size. 2 Newcomb Comdale For Your Eyes Only. Up to size. Another that fills the eye with type and quality. LD (2,1) 1 Walden Thozow Great Expectations For Taramount Sh.CM ShCE OD (3,1) 1 Burns & Burns Burneze Wild At Heart. DCC and BOB. My notes say, high class, like all great dogs, he has style and presence. Could win in the highest competition. Built right moved right. Correct shoulder placement, great hindquarters. Champion today. Congratulations. 2 Gale Ch Bocans Bolt To Bellevue. Worthy Champion, rather lethargic, and tail set could have been better. SB (3) 1 Bradbury Fourastay Fedora. A puppy of excellence, bred in the purple. The futures bright for this one. 2 Bagness Hillcloud Ocean, came in well here, in this mixed class. 3 Carkeek Daisy Flowers. MPB (5,2) 1 Lee-Robichaud Bellevue Miss Chief. Scored in excellent coat for one so young. Early days, but another who can make for interesting competition. 2 Foster & Foster Thozow I’d Do Anything. 3 Minett Duskhunter Shines Bright. PB (5) 1 Davies Manakels First Addition BP. Must have a bright future. So sound and smart. Well balanced. Short coupled, fills the eye. A delight. One for the future. 2 West & West Tomlyndon Able Mabel. No means disgraced in this hot competition. Close up. 3 Thomson Charosmack Clouded Moon At Ashgate. JB (3) 1 Hall Bellevue Summer Breeze. Another of the highest quality. 2 Burns & Burns Burneze Maid To Order. Size lovely. Little short in neck. Good coat, and well presented. 3 Filmore Bellevue Take A Chance With Karagem. PGB (6,1) 1 Gale Bellevue Nuts ‘n Bolts, size pleasing good coat, well balanced, moving well. 2 Harper Westigo Full Of Cheek. Same merit, close up. 3 Chambers Spitgrove Bonnie To Circinus. LB (6) 1 Davies Hillcloud Riga At Manakel, BCC. Filled the eye. Top class, in everyway. Like the dog ticket winner, moves with an easy powerful stride. I see sired by an Ashgate. Connoisseurs of the Breed, will recall this great blood line, that had an influence on the breed world wide. This bitch like the dog ticket winner, personifies all that is best in the breed. Short couple, good tail set, and moving with that free easy powerful stride. 2 West & West Who’s Dressed Up At Tomlyndon (Imp Fin). Another in the top flight. Could have been firmer in front on the day. 3 Griffiths Karamynd May Queen. OB (3) 1 Griffiths Ch Karamynd Guilded Lily. These high class Westies just kept coming. I am sure the breed has never been in a stronger stae. 2 Burns & Burns Ch Burneze Our Marnie. Close up. Hair spliting, decision here. 3 Harper Westigo Flirty Gertie. Judge Jean Lanning |
