THE WEST HIGHLAND WHITE TERRIER CLUB – 4TH OCTOBER 2014

I would like to thank the Committee of the Club for inviting me to Judge their Championship show. Their hospitality was excellent as was the lovely lunch, thanks Averil.
I was disappointed in the amount of absentees especially in Open dog but this seems to be a sign of the times these days.
Quality in the bitches was better than the dogs on this occasion, my bitch line up was a delight and very difficult to finalise as there were at least 5 exhibits that were “top drawer”. I only found two “iffy” mouths overall and temperament was very good, as was presentation and cleanliness without any obvious chalk and substances.

Sp.Beginners Dog(1)

1 – Fisher – Bobo Whiskey – Masculine dog with good head and coat, a bit reluctant today. Could do to lose a bit of weight.

Minor Puppy Dog – (1) – Absent

Puppy Dog (4) (1a) –

1 - Jennings - Comdale Johnny Junior – Lovely coated puppy with darkest of eye, large teeth, well defined stop, good front and bone, so well presented as always from this kennel, excellent quarters moved and showed well to be BPIS. Hope he fulfils his early promise.

2 – Purchon – Lindenka Chesterman -Another lovely puppy, good head and large teeth, good stop, excellent shoulders, good substance, firm quarters moved and strode out well, lost out to (1) on coat today which is just coming through. These two could change places any day.

3 – Kinnaird – Pepperknowe Och-Aye-The-Noo

Junior Dog (4) (1a) –

1 – West – Tomlyndon Eager Ernest – Nice dog to go over, good in all departments, steady mover, needs time to mature yet and could be a different dog next year. To be critical I would like him a little bigger but he is very balanced, well presented and showed well.

2 – Dale – Hopecharm Ed Turner at Lynnsto – Another lovely young dog and has the same attributes as the winner and hard to decide which should win, but Ed was not being so positive today in front movement and played his handler up a bit. Another exhibit which needs time to mature and next year these two will trouble the best. Excellent presentation as usual from this kennel.

3- Robertson – Brigadoon Sky Ruairidh

Yearling Dog (2) (1a) –Robertson - Brigadoon Sky Ruairidh – Nice head with wide mouth and large teeth, good shoulders and correct coat, moved OK but I think he wished he was somewhere else today.

Novice Dog (2) –

1 – Kinnaird – Pepperknowe Och-Qye-The-Noo – 3rd in Puppy class. Nice dog to go over, good head, strong hindquarters and super coat, just needs more ring training I think as he was unsettled today.

2 – Robertson – Brigadoon Sky Ruairidh

Graduate Dog (2) –

1 – Fisher – Bobo Whiskey.

2 – Robertson – Brigadoon Sky Ruairidh

Post Graduate Dog (2) (1a) –

1 McLoughlin – Ley Hey Latest Legend – Nice dog to go over with good headpiece and wide mouth. Good textured coat, moved smartly for his handler.

Limit Dog (6) (2a) –

1 – Strands – Crinan Code Name Westlake – Great head, strong jaw wide mouth and large teeth. Good eye. Well defined stop. Well off for bone, good textured coat, super hindquarters and tailset. Level topline which he kept on the move. Not the shortest of dogs but he is balanced. Maturing nicely now and he moves so well that this won him the CC today for me.

2 – Wests – Tomlyndon Power of Love – Never noticed this dog before but what a surprise I got when going over him, short back, good head and mouth, excellent shoulder placement, good substance correct coat texture and presented well, good hindquarters, lost out to winner on his rear movement today which was better when not raced around the ring. RCC

3 – Windrams – Leonardo Ventura

Open Dog (4)(4a) All absent.

Veteran Dog (2) –

1 – Tullis – Drumsheugh True Grit Sh.CM - 8 year old dog, nice head, short back, super coat but a bit too much of it making him look stuffy in neck which he isn’t. Good quarters and moved and showed well.

2 – McLoughlin – 91/2 year old Ley Hey Living Legend Sh.CM – Very close up to winner, good coat in good order, nice throughout and moved well, two oldies enjoying their day out!

GCD/B (2)(1a)

1 – McLoughlin – Llovall Look Here Ley Hey – Pretty little bitch enjoying her day out too, short backed, lovely little tail, moved smartly with tail bang up.

Sp. Beginners Bitch (1) –

1 – Crozier – Carshairn Caol-Ila – Pretty bitch, small ears, short back, coat of good texture and moved ok.

Minor Puppy Bitch (2) Absent

Puppy Bitch (4)(1a) –

1 – Dale – Lynnsto Bling in the Ring – She certainly Blinged in the ring today, sweet little bitch so full of herself, super ultra white coat coming through. Darkest of eye, good mouth. Lovely front and shoulder placement, short back and tail bang on top, I am sure will do well in the future.

2 – Cooper – Brorastar Love Me Do – More mature than the winner, a little longer caste at the moment, good coat and tailset, good substance moved and showed well.

Junior Bitch (5)(3) –

1 – Fryer – Hopecharm Ops a Daisy – Loved this little lady, so compact and balanced, good in all the correct departments, well presented, moved and showed well, she pushed the CC and RCC winners hard, I am sure will make up with maturity. My 1st lovely bitch.

2 – Wilson – Gairich Razzle Dazzle’em – Nicely presented short backed bitch who showed well.

Yearling Bitch (2)(1)

1 – Bells – Pentangle Ainst She Sweet – and she is, stood alone but a worthy winner, beautiful white coat of correct length, good stop, dark eye, neat ears, straight front and strong hindquarters, loved her little tail, moved well, another one that pushed the main winners hard in the challenge, just carrying a little too much weight today. My 2nd lovely bitch.

Novice Bitch (2)(1)

1 – Kinnaird – Pepperknowe Party ‘n’ Paris – Third in Puppy bitch, lovely white coat, good pigmentation, moved well but a little over weight I thought today.

2 – Windram – Carlola Showgirl – Could benefit from a little more hair removal as this spoilt her outline when standing and moving. OK

Graduate Bitch(2)(1)

1 – Crozier – Carshairn Caol-Ila

2 – Andrews – Rupann Spring Surprise

Post Graduate Bitch(6)(1)

1 – Dale – Lynnsto Candy Crush – Another one I would like to take home, super ultra white coat in lovely condition and trim, good head, mouth and eye and stop giving her the correct expression, good layback of shoulder, straight front, short back and deep ribbed, strong hindquarters and good tailset showed and moved well, another one that will do well with maturity. My 3rd lovely bitch.

2 – Mcloughlin – Llovall Look Here Ley Hey – Winner of GCDS.

3 – Milners – Juanne Latin Lindi Louise

Limit Bitch (7)(3)

1 – Jennings – Comdale Charlie Girl – Stunning bitch and did not disappoint on handling and moving. Prettiest of heads with good mouth, dark eye, neat ears, lovely shoulder placement and straight front, well off for substance, deep rib and well muscled hindquarters which showed in her movement, level topline, super white coat well presented, just felt in the challenge she needed a bit more maturity yet as she is still only a young bitch, lovely girl. RCC and the 4th of my lovely bitches in the challenge.

2 – Smiths - Lingbeck Playing the Lady – Honest bitch nicely presented, good front and lovely head, excellent hindquarters, moved and showed well.

3 – Milners – Rozamie Merry Go Round by Juanne

Open Bitch(8)(3)

1 – Edmondsons – Pepabby Pirouette – Never judged this bitch before and I have to say that when she was a puppy I was not keen on her, but baby look at her now!! Has matured so well with everything in it right place, your hands just flow over this well constructed bitch, you know from your hands that she is going to move correctly and she does with her tail bang on top, such a show girl and well presented, her outline when standing is a dream, strong level topline which she keeps on the move. Great head and wide mouth, which a lot lack these days, wonderful shoulder placement, if the shoulders are right then the animal will move right, the same with hindquarters if they are straight then there is no drive but not in this girl, she drove around the ring to gain the CC and BIS my 5th lovely bitch, Well done, her third CC I understand.

2 – Fryers – Hope;charm Flower Power – Super moving bitch with strong hindquarters, good head and mouth, level topline and good tailset, another lovely bitch from this kennel but I do lean towards the Junior winner.

3 – Coopers – Brorastar Aint’s She Sweet

Veteran Bitch (4)(1) –

1 – Smiths – Lingbeck Leading Lady – 8 year old bitch in excellent condition, pretty head, good mouth, short back, well presented and moved so well to gain BVIS.

2 – Milners – Juanne Gin ‘N Just A Dash – 9 ½ year old bitch, pretty head, good mouth, moved and showed well.

3 – Windrams – Cassara Princess
