FOX WIRE JUDGE CRUFTS 17

Wire Fox Terriers

I must comment on heads which in many cases are so wrong. There are a substantial number of weak forefaces which look like an extrusion from the skull, which is often incorrectly shaped; egg shape on top proceeding cheekbones, the whole thing can best be described as a Pan Handle Head. A fine lady said to me along the way, don’t sacrifice strength for length. The Standard says, front, not broad, that does not mean no forechest at all. There is a happy medium, brisket is down to elbow, the sternum has to go somewhere.

May I thank my two excellent stewards for keeping the ball rolling & the exhibitors for making the day so pleasant.

VD (4)

1 Campen’s Aman Snow Knight at Coedrhosyn, well balanced profile, giving reach of neck, firm topline, good set on angulations. Presented in good coat & moving well. Very good head & expression;

2 Coutts’ Ir Ch Brocolitia Talk O The North, nice compact dog in good coat with firm back line & good set on firm angulation giving the movement but lacked enthusiasm. Good head & expression.

PD (2)

1 BP, Pearce & Duesmann’s Be’s Evergreen at Alkinra, has that nobility of bearing created by a correct forehand, clean reachy neck & correctly proportioned head with good eye & ears giving a keen outlook. Good topline, set on, nice coat, well angulated rear & correct movement. All that is needed is maturity;

2 Moorhouse’s Skelmoss Quite Frankly, squarely proportioned, nice neck, good topline & tailset, well presented. Typy headpiece, moved true but lacked extension.

JD (4)

1 Maughan’s Brocolitia Point Taken, won on his excellent head, which is correctly shaped & proportioned with good eyes & ears giving a most pleasing outlook. Reachy neck, good topline & set on, in good coat, pleasing angulation, moved well;

2 de Munter-Uiterwijk’s Open Fire van Foliny Home, has the advantage of being more compact with equal quality of neck, topline, set on & coat. Firmly articulated, moved true. Nice eyes & ears, head lacked balance between strength of foreface & skull;

3 Liston’s Brocolita Showdown.

PGD (7)

1 Schoneberg’s Goldwing Vd Schonen Bergen, overall quality made him stand out, was pleasing in quality from head to tail. Balanced, in good coat, move well. A little more depth of brisket would complete;

2 Valli’s Desert Storm Foxhouse, almost the opposite from winner, a little less substance would enhance. Compact with good angulation, topline set on, coat, moved well. Head of good proportion, nice eyes & ears of appropriate strength to overall dog, cleaner skull edged this place;

3 Rice’s Winning Colours at Duchmourn, nice square body proportions, good topline, set on angulation, coat, moved well. Good head & eyes, ears & expression.

LD (7)

1 Wurtzburg’s Blackdale Buccaneer of Russmews, had a little in hand scored in substance & head shape. Quality dog, excelled in head & expression, pleased in profile, nice neck & topline, set on, good coat & moved well;

2 Schoneberg’s Nethertonion Precision, fine dog however you look at him. Very good head, eye & ears outlook. Nice neck, topline, coat, well angulated. Moved soundly;

3 Van Weersch’s Paperman Roadmaster.

OD (12)

1 CC & BOB, Christ’s Joker des Astucieux de Kerlabour, presented to the minute in top order. His head was excellent, balance between strength of foreface & clean flat skull, possessing length & lively keen outlook. Short back, reachy neck, good set on & coat, correct angulation, musculation & articulation resulting in excellent movement all round;

2 RCC, Barker’s Irvonhill Cider Cup, quality headed dog with good eye, ears & outlook. Presented a well balanced outline with reachy neck, firm topline, good set on, well angulated, moved soundly;

3 de Munter-Uiterwijk’s Noble Knight Van Foliny Home, made up a trio of quality typy dogs, perhaps could be in harder neck. Pleases in head, eye, ears, outlook, reachy neck, good topline & tailset, well angulated in good coat, moved soundly.

VB (1)

1 Smith’s Lenicka Bright Ideas, this is a quality bitch, pleasing in head, neck, topline, set on, coat, well angulated & moves well, everything in proportion, going well, balanced profile.

PB (3)

1, 2 Withheld;

3 Clayton’s Moelfre Honey Bee, typical representative of the breed who would benefit any hearth.

JB (9)

1 Lilly’s Wyregait Cider With Rosie, this would be exciting with a little more maturity. Excellent head, eyes, ears & expression. Elegant neck, good topline & set on, nice jacket, well angulated front & rear. Presents an imposing profile;

2 Christ’s Ash Grove Time Lady, very compact & ready, is an animal of quite different overall type. Most pleasing head, eyes, ears, outlook, good neck, topline, set on, well angulated, moves well. Is almost too short;

3 Vickers’ Eskwyre Sleepless Seattle, she is classy but not so mature. Lovely head, eyes, ears, expression, nice neck, topline, set on, soundly constructed & moves well, good jacket. Time will be her friend

. PGB (10)

1 RCC, Arnold’s Wrapped In Magic for Wragley, heavy marked would like more white about her. Having said that she is in a lovely type. Classy refined headpiece, yet with strength in front of the eyes, nice ears, alert feminine outlook. Never stand wrong sets down foursquare all of a piece. Clean arched neck, frim level topline, good set on, well angulated moves as she stands, in good coat;

2 Barrett’s Tyquin Majestic Gem, this is a really nice bitch, quality headpiece & outlook, good neck, topline, set on, coat, well angulated, moves well, overall presents a well balanced profile, it was a close run thing;

3 Dipple’s Marvidyne Midnight Moon, another nice bitch, compact, balanced, provides a good profile, nice neck, topline, set on, sound construction, pleasing head, eye, ears & outlook.

LB (12)

1 Schoneberg’s Xtra V D Schonenbergen;

2 Carrera’s Star Pride Inside Out, a t/w. I liked very much these tow bitches, both were balanced in good coat, moving true & with scope. Both had correct type, heads with good ears, slightly different eye shape giving to the keenest expression. Outline on the other hand was a little better in forechest, having more correct width & more correct body condition, ie, as against a little excess which cleaned up the extra profile so she won;

3 de Munter-Uiterwijk’s Norma Jean Van Foliny Home.

OB (15)

1 CC, Pearce & Hughes’ Alkinra Rough Diamond, I guess there’s been a lot of polishing going on, ain’t rough no more. This bitch represents the Standard in the flesh in so many ways, no exaggerations, just a harmonious whole were one part blends seamlessly into the next. Ass a top quality head, eyes, ears, you have the keen alert outlook of the breed. Hard condition, good coat, not a foot put wrong. She is so correct standing or moving;

2 Thompson’s Ir Ch Burrencroft Lady Liz, unfortunately the owner emulated the Scarlett Pimpernel during the challenge, my steward sought him here, they sought him there, nowhere to be found. She stands out from the crowd, startling outline, neck to burn of good compact body & tailset, great coat, sweeping hindquarters, long head, nice ears, keen eyes. Moves with purpose, so close;

3 Malzoni & Bradley’s Aman Crimson Empress, lovely type, well balanced in good coat. Quality headpiece, good neck, topline & set on, nice angulation, moved soundly.
