My thanks to all exhibitors for a lovely entry, letting me go over their dogs and their work in preparing them. Finally, thank you to my stewards Joe Smith and Shirley Hockenhull. The overall quality was high with a strong contingent from overseas (as is expected for this show) and there were many top class dogs shown. Most of the classes were well filled and very competitive resulting in some good dogs going cardless. Temperaments were good on every dog. I felt the strongest classes were Post Graduate Bitch and Limit Bitch. The principal winners are among the best I have judged to date and would be very happy to own any of them. VD (1, 1). PD (1, 0): 1. England’s Ashleyheath Nemesia Fire. Smart 8 month old ginger who performed well. Well balanced, nice eye, clean through his neck and shoulders, liked his level topline and rich ginger colour, well co-ordinated on the move. Will benefit from time. JD (2, 0): 2 very energetic young dogs in very high spirits who both wanted to play. It was good to see their active temperaments, however it was a bit too much here and got in the way of being able to assess them easily, both young and am sure they will both settle given time. 1. Murphy’s Blackdale Setanta. Nice type of dog, correct size, harsh coat texture, liked his head, eyes and expression, moved ok from the few steps I saw. 2. Gething’s Raynwyre Kangana. Very impressive outline with a super reach of neck, great tailset and a lot behind the tail. Too excitable on the day to assess any movement, otherwise may have won this class. PGD (7, 0): 1. Walton’s Seacliffe Scimitar. A quality dog, lovely type, long clean very refined head with flat skull, good eye, small high set ears, nice neck and shoulders, short back and a good size. In lovely body condition with excellent muscle tone. A little short of coat on the day but the texture was harsh, very sound mover both ways, moved with drive and determination. Well presented and handled, showed with animation. 2. Dipple’s Marvidyne Follow The Trend. Very smart sound dog, well made all through, liked his well made long clean head, strong foreface and good eyes. In excellent coat and condition and moved soundly. 3. Adshead’s Shoalhill Too Hot To Handle. Very smart dog in profile, picture marked, presented in an excellent tight harsh coat. Liked his size, outline and compact body, tail on top, good rear. In excellent condition with fantastic muscle tone, very well presented and handled, showed well. LD (5, 2): 1. De-Munter Uiterwijk’s Open Fire van Foliny Home. Excellent type, correct size, very good head and expression, good eye and ear, good neck and shoulders, excellent coat and condition, short level topline, moved well, excellent tailset and rear, good legs, small tight feet, good angulation both ends, a showy dog with a lovely outgoing temperament. Liked him a lot, a very exciting young dog with a lot of class. RCC. 2. Pearce & Duessman’s Be’s Evergreen at Alkinra. Made on similar lines to the winner, again good breed type, good head and expression, lovely outline, liked his reach of neck, good strong level topline, high tailset with a lot behind the tail, powerful rear which he used so well on the move, good size, excellent coat and condition. Very well handled and presented. Unlucky to meet 1 in this class, would also have stood his ground very well in the bigger Open class too. 3. Vieu’s Lanvin Chic du Haillet des Corneiredes. Very well presented and well schooled dog who has a great rapport with his handler, did everything asked by his handler, very self assured temperament. A smart dog overall, in excellent harsh coat, excellent tailset and very strong rear. Showed so well and moved with drive. OD (10, 0): The winner stood away, decisions between the other 9 for the placements that followed were close. 1. O’Donoghue’s Ir Ch Blackdale Park Royal. I thought he was exceptional. Picture marked upstanding masculine stallion type dog of classic breed type, outstanding quality and so typical from this kennel. Excellent long clean head, flat skull, strong foreface, lovely eyes and ears giving a superb expression. Excellent long clean neck and well laid back flat shoulders, super body and ribs, short back, big strong hindquarters and perfect set on. In excellent condition, in good harsh coat, very well presented. A great pleasure to go over on the table. A very sound dog with excellent true movement both ways, rarely seen this good in front. Moved with drive and the correct stride for the breed something not always seen and covered the ground with ease. A sensible dignified showman, so well handled calmly by his young handler. Excellent bone and substance but still has clean lines and is in no way thick set. I loved this dog and he was very unlucky to come up against a bitch of the same caliber who had the edge to take BOB today. CC. 2. Valli’s Desert Storm Foxhouse. Richly marked dog of quality, good breed type, correct type of head and expression, he looks at you right. Good size, good neck and shoulders, short compact body. Showed himself well, good angulation helping to give good overall balance. Goody body and substance. 3. Schoneberg’s Goldwing vd Schonen Bergen. A very smart attractively marked dog, I liked his size, nice neck and shoulders, level topline, makes a stylish typical picture in profile. This dog is a great credit to his handler who had him in perfect coat and condition, trimmed and shown to advantage. GCD (No entries). VB (4, 0): All 4 a great credit to their owners, all in good body condition although 3 were not in their best coat on the day. 1. Moakes’ Blackdale Request of Jomoaka. A very feminine pretty 7 year old bitch of quality, lovely size, beautiful long clean head, good eye, small high set ears, good neck and shoulders, good body and ribs, short back and a sound mover. Not in her best coat today but texture was harsh. BV. 2. Smith’s Lenicka Bright Ideas ShCM. Also a lovely bitch, almost 10 years old, very soundly put together, lovely confirmation all through, long well made head, strong foreface, good neck and shoulders, level topline and also a really sound mover and very willing showgirl for her owner. Same as 1 not in her best coat today but again the texture was harsh. 3. Will’s Fr Ch Funky Girl de Platemare. A charming 7 year old feminine bitch in excellent coat and condition with bright rich colours, correct size, pretty head and expression, level topline. Showed very well. PB (5,0): 1. Duessmann’s Be’s Fanta Classica. Very promising 11 month old quality bitch with excellent conformation throughout and sound. Long very well made head with strong foreface, attractive expression, scored on neck and shoulders, well balanced in body with a strong level topline, liked her size - substantial in build but not too big, good body and bone, good tailset and rear and a lovely sound free mover maintaining her topline on the move. Good coat presented in lovely order and performed really well. Lovely prospect. BPIB. 2. Salas’ Stunning Luxe J’aime La Vie at Harrowhill. 8 month quality puppy, also very promising but giving away a little in age compared to 1. Lovely type, very feminine and pretty with a lovely clean head, small high set ears and classy expression. Good outline, short back, in lovely coat and condition, moved and performed very well. Liked her very much, hope she continues to grow on. 3. England’s Ashleyheath Nemesia Gem. 8 month old ginger, litter sister to the winner of Puppy Dog, out the same mould and much the same comments apply as they are very similar, she is a nice bitch and like her brother she will benefit from more time. Moved and showed well. JB (4, 0): 1. Nixon’s Willowyre Whyte Magic. Very feminine 16 month old mainly white bitch with a black marking on her neck. Lots to like about her, nice size, long well balanced clean head, small ears on top, good expression, lovely neck and shoulders, well balanced in body, good tailset, legs and feet. Very sound, excellent movement. Level topline, excellent coat and condition and showed really well. Watching her was like going back 20 years in time as she is more than similar to this breeder’s lovely Ch Willowyre White Witch and am sure with further maturity will become a Champion too. 2. Kubala’s Stella z Kuliaru. Very stylish 13 month old picture marked bitch of quality, beautiful outline, lovely reach of neck, excellent tailset and rear. Has time on her side. In lovely form, very well handled and presented. 3. Weiss’ Nikita de la Rosa. Lovely short compact 16 month old bitch. Attractive head and expression, well balanced in body, good rear and tailset. Well presented, showed well. PGB (11, 3). A very strong class. 1. De-Munter Uiterwijk’s Painted Smile van Foliny Home. Beautiful young bitch approaching 2 years old. Excellent type and quality, very feminine with a very good head and expression. Well balanced throughout with a well balanced clean neck and well laid back shoulders, flowing well into a lovely short compact body with a level topline. Excellent tailset and rear, good angulation both ends. Liked her size, sound and true on the move, moved with good drive. Excellent overall pattern, made a lovely picture and showed well. Presented in a new tight harsh coat that highlighted her clean lines. RCC. 2. Vickers’ Kentixen Slight Intrigue at Eskwyre Another quality young bitch, 18 months old and built on similar lines to the winner. Again excellent type, with a good head and expression. Good outline, compact with excellent body and rib, excellent strong rear and high tailset, correct size. Loved her outgoing attitude and character, showed and moved very well. 3. Arnold’s Wrapped In Magic for Wragley. Lovely bitch, an older sister to 2. Liked her type and size, quality head and expression, stylish outline with a good neck and shoulders, good body and rib. Very feminine but thought a touch less weight would suit overall balance and although she performed well she did not quite have the same animation of 1 and 2 today which made it a slightly easier decision in this very competitive class. A lovely high quality bitch all the same though. LB (7,0): Another very strong class, decisions were very close. 1. Lilley’s Wyregait Cider With Rosie. Beautiful top size bitch, full of quality and so well put together. Lovely outline, superb neck and shoulders, quality long clean, flat head with strong foreface, nice eye and expression, balanced body, good bone, well angulated both ends and a high tailset. She decided to give her handler a hard time today throughout the class in that she only did what she wanted to and when she wanted to do it! For the times when she did decide to behave, she looked the part and moved soundly. Liked her very much and am sure that once she decides to make the most of herself will go onto higher awards. In first class coat and condition. 2. Schoneberg’s Paperman Chery. This heavily marked very pretty feminine and stylish bitch took my eye immediately for her lovely type and quality, she was beautifully presented shown free standing in immaculate coat and condition and made a very impressive overall picture. Liked her clean lines. Long lean very pretty head, good neck and shoulders, short level topline and good tailset. Quite a different set of virtues to the winner. She has ring presence and is so refined, feminine and pretty she can’t be overlooked. 3. Vickers’ Kentixen Most Enthralling at Eskwyre. Lovely young bitch litter sister to 2nd in the previous class and very similar. I can see why this exhibitor kept both. Quality head and expression, good make and shape, good outline, moved soundly, showed well, very well presented harsh textured coat. Close up to those above, has all the essentials. I think further maturity will bring the finish to complete the picture and thought the same about her litter sister. Liked them both a lot. OB (14, 6): 1. Westwood & Wiggins’ Ch Nethertonion Chandalier. A truly beautiful feminine bitch from any angle, one from out the top drawer and presented in the most sparkling form. Just turned 2 years old, full of quality and ring presence, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up when I saw her at the start of the class, she looked so good and was hard to take my eyes off her. Excellent type, a joy to go over on the table, perfect size, long, lean, quality head, flat skull with a strong foreface, ears on top, dark eyes and has a super expression that she used to full effect the entire time. Ideal length of neck that is reachy and clean, set smoothly into excellent well laid back flat shoulders. Excellent body and rib, very short backed with a strong level topline, high tailset and good quarters. Good bone and substance. I think she illustrates the term ‘perfect balance’ so well as she is neither too moderate or too extreme and her silhouette could be nothing other than a Wire Fox Terrier. On the move, she moved true both ways with excellent drive and determination, once she settles into her stride she is sound and typical in profile movement too. Active and lively, she showed herself non-stop, taking a keen interest in everything going on around her and did not miss a thing. In pristine coat and condition. The icing on the cake is her ideal picture book markings with a strong white blaze. Outstanding to me, I loved her and was pleased to see her perform well in the group where she was shortlisted to the last 8. CC & BOB. 2. Cassin’s Ita Ch Fransin Minnie Mouse. A high quality bitch, lovely type. Excellent long clean head with a powerful foreface, good keen eye, used her ears enough to see she has the right expression. Excellent outline, all parts fitting together really well with a good reach of neck and well laid shoulders, well balanced in body, good strong rear and high tail-set. Excellent bone, substance and spring of ribs. Moved soundly, scored very highly in profile movement where her carriage was superb, she has the same outline moving that she has standing. In lovely order and her handler did a great job. 3. Calais Adriansen & Calais Fr Ch Isetta d’Hondrecourte. Another high quality bitch. Elegant type with a beautiful long refined totally clean head, flat skull, really very beautiful small dark eyes, excellent long clean neck and well laid flat shoulders, soundly made front and rear, well balanced in body and very sound true mover both ways. In good coat and condition. Steady reliable showgirl, very well handled. Liked her a lot. Judge Andrew Goodsell Go To Top Of Page
