KERRY BLUE BOURNEMOUTH 14 Judge: Mr N Straw BEST OF BREED : 1931 WEATHERHEAD Mr J Ch Hallsblu Fibber Magee KERRY BLUE JUDGE BOURNEMOUTH 14 Kerry Blue Terriers Thank you to Bournemouth for their kind invitation to judge at their annual show. The exhibitors for their entries & my stewards who keeping things altogether despite the blustery conditions. The ring outside was much bigger & gave the dogs the opportunity to move out well. Temperaments throughout were excellent. Presentation in the main was good – beautifully trimmed coats but was disappointed to find some with dirty teeth & eyes. Interesting to note that both my CC winners were by the same sire – obviously producing consistent type. PD (4,1a) 1 Gallett’s Lakki Kerri Vero Cavaliero, raw puppy, balanced skull, good muzzle & bite, ample bone, deep chest, level topline, would prefer him shorter coupled, good tailset, moved freely fore & aft. BPD; 2 Munro’s Arkama Jack To A King, 7 months & needs to settle on the move, clean in head, dark eye, good bite, straight front, balanced neck & shoulders, well ribbed back, sound quarters & low hocks; 3 Rose & Tracey’s Arkama Highlander. LD (1) 1 Davani’s Kebulak Only The Brave, upstanding dog, powerful head, dark eye, & strong in muzzle, straight front, muscular neck, deep chest & level topline, powerful quarters low hocks, coat texture correct, gave his handler a hard time especially on the move. OD (4,1) 1 Weatherhead’s Ch Hallsblu Fibber Magee, upstanding male of good breed type, good head, used his ears well, dark eye, good width & depth of muzzle, lovely front assembly, good run-in & layback, deep chest, level topine & firm loin, good tailset, well angulated quarters, low hocks used well on the move, good coat texture, very attentive attitude with that ‘look at me’, moved out well giving a good outline in profile, disappointed that he was not present for the Group. CC & BOB; 2 Clarke-O’Neill’s Ch Lemacdream The Navigator, another well made dog, clean in skull, good muzzle of strength. Straight front, strong neck, well laid shoulders, level topline & firm loin, good tailset & powerful quarters used well on the move, very close up, just preferred the overall profile of 1. RCC; 3 Somer’s Dogazzas Rhythum And Blues. PB (2) 1 Davani’s Kebulak Playing With Fire, lovely disposition with ever wagging tail & enjoying herself as a puppy should, feminine head, dark eye, ears need to settle but should with maturity, ample bone, lovely neck & shoulders, deep chest, short coupled & good tailset, well made hindquarters & low hocks, moved out well once into her stride, gave a good performance in the puppy group. BP; 2 Jones’ Arkama Harmony Miss D’Arcy, up to size & gave her handler a rough time especially on the move, head of good length, dark eye, good muzzle & bite, straight front, deep chest & level topline, would prefer shorter coupled, low hocks, in this class just not together on the move. JB (1) 1 A Harmony Miss D’Arcy, moved her again in this class & was more settled & performed much better which she will when she gains more experience. PGB (1) 1 Carson’s Kebulak Miss Sixty, balanced head, tends to fly her ears, good muzzle & bite, ample bone, deep chest, level topline, low hocks, moved steady, could show with a tad more verve. LB (1) 1 Rafter’s Arkama My Way, clean skull, dark eye, straight front, deep chest, topline held on the move, ribs carried well back, well muscled quarters & hocks well let down, well presented, showed well, moved but a tad close behind. OB (4,1) 1 Davies’ Millsblu Living The Dream at Perrisblu, bitch of very good breed type, well proportioned head, good earset, dark eye, strong muzzle & bite, lovely straight front, lovely run-in & layback, deep chest, short coupled, level topline, firm loin & good tailset, sound quarters, low hocks with good drive from behind, good coat colour & texture, lovely outline on the go around. CC; 2 Pinfold’s Cyres Born To Thrill, this bitch has matured well since seeing her as a very raw puppy some years ago, again good breed type, well balanced feminine head, dark eye, good muzzle & bite, lovely front, neck & shoulders, deep chest, well ribbed to firm loin, level topline which she maintained at all times, well angulated quarters & low set hocks, coat in lovely bloom, moved with aplomb. RCC; 3 Davani’s Kebulak Bare All. NEIL STRAW |
