Kerry Blue Terrier Club Of England Championship Show 9th June 2013
Monkton Recreation Centre, Pinfold Lane, Penkridge, Staffordshire.

KERRY BLUE JUDGE KBT OF E 13

Judge A SALMON

The Kerry Blue Terrier Club Of England held a championship show where BIS was Ramsey & Quigg’s Torum’s Calico Jack; RBIS, Munro’s Ch Nemiah Poetry In Motion Arkama; & BP, McGonagle’s Irisblu Mirlaska.

I would like to thank the officers & committee for inviting me to judge their club championship show. It was a great privilege. There seems to be a tendency for high ear placement in the breed lately, which spoils the unique feature of the Kerry Blue. Standard says carried forward but not too high. A Fox Terrier ear carriage is not what is wanted; the ear placement is set lower to protect the ears for the work that the Kerries were bred for.

VD (2)

1 Carvey’s Ch Arkama Pinball Wizard at Philwyre, 8 years & still got the looks of a champion. Balanced head, correct bite, nice shoulder placement, soft coat, moved around the ring with ease;

2 Adamson’s Adabelle Blue Laurel, 9 years, correct bite, dark eye, good spring of rib, moved well.

MPD (1)

1 McGonagle’s Irisblu Mirlaska, great terrier attitude, alert & using ears to give that Kerry expression, dark eye, correct bite, straight front, strong balanced neck, level topline, correct coat, good bend of stifle, moved parallel front & back. BPD & BP.

PD (1)

1 Cooper & Dale’s Lynnsto Blue Russian, nice balanced outline when standing, ears well placed, good eye, coat soft & silky, good spring of rib. Loose in movement but is only 9 months so still has time to mature.

JD, MD, ND & PGD (0).

LD (2)

1 Somers’ Dogazza’s Rhythm And Blues, nice size dog & well presented, good mouth, correct ears, straight front & good spring of rib, deep chest, nice stifle & hock. Rear movement a bit loose;

2 Carvey’s Dollagh Intercity Gent at Philwyre, nice outline, good eye & mouth, strong neck, good depth of chest, muscular hindquarters. Unsteady in front & rear movement.

OD (5)

1 Ramsey & Quigg’s Torum’s Calico Jack, stood out from the crowd, muscular, alert & showing at all times. Great terrier expression, balanced head, dark eye, correct scissor bite, strong jaw, good ear carriage, strong reachy neck & well placed shoulders, good depth of chest with good spring of rib, good coat & colour, well set tail, strong developed hindquarters showed by the perfect parallel front & rear movement. CC & BIS, believe this was his third & deserved to be made up;

2 O’Rouke’s Kebulak Rockin Robin, nice size dog, showing alertness, good balance in head, good mouth & eye, well placed shoulders, good spring of rib, level topline, nice coat, straight front. Not quite the movement of 1. RCC;

3 Nagle’s Ch Stormblu Aristocrat.

VB (1) A.

MPB (2)

1 Phillips’ Brandyn Hot And Classy, nice puppy, dark eye, correct bite, good shoulder, muscular in body. This was spoiled by the lack of training, as she was very reluctant to move & unsettled. For this puppy to progress the owner needs to get it to training for socializing.

PB (2)

1 Ensell’s Nemiah London, well presented puppy, good ear settings & correct bite, nice shoulder placement, soft coat, level topline, good bend of stifle, moved well. BPB & RBPIS;

2 B Hot And Classy.

JB (4)

1 Clarke-O’Neill’s Lemracdream Blue Ivy, lovely young bitch, good outline, balanced head, dark eye, correct scissor bite, good ear carriage, reachy neck, straight front, good spring of rib & well defined rearquarters showed by the free movement around the ring;

2 O’Rouke’s Kebulak Hot As Hell, another nice bitch, good head & eye, straight front, nice shoulders, solid body, moved OK. Let down by ear carriage, which spoilt the expression;

3 Needham’s Kebulak Madame Scandal at Anfang.

MB (0) NB (1)

1 B Hot And Classy.

LB (6

) 1 Rafter’s Arkama My Way, well presented, good coat & colour, correct bite, well placed ears & nice small eye, good front & shoulders, nice spring of rib, good hindquarters & low hock, nice easy movement;

2 Ensell’s Nemiah Kaleesi Blue, nice outline, balanced in head, scissor bite, dark eye, nice expression, deep chest, good tailset, moved well;

3 Wilkinson’s Cranmoss Crackling Rose.

OB (3)

1 Munro’s Ch Nemiah Poetry In Motion Arkama, beautifully presented bitch, great expression & alertness, correct bite, dark small eye, correct ear carriage, reachy neck, great coat soft & silky as the Standard requires, deep chest & spring of rib, well developed in hindquarters, good front & rear movement. CC & RBIS;

2 Forrest & Scott’s Lacarnaveen Marykate, another quality bitch, good bite & small eye with good ear placement gives a lovely expression, powerful neck, straight front, muscular body, solid rearquarters showed in the movement. Just preferred the coat of 1. RCC.
