KERRY BLUE JUDGE LEEDS 24

I enjoyed this, lovely to be back amongst my favourite breed after a bit of time out. My initial observations across the classes; ‘types’ so varied but only one breed standard we should be striving to keep to this. Rear movement in a lot of cases is a concern but this may be linked to how many soft thigh muscles felt on the day. Also, it’s a shame to see dirty teeth and being able to smell dirty yeasty ears before even getting hands on is a worry (I will not be pointing these out in critiques).

PD (1)

1 Davani & Potts, Kebulak That’s a Wrap - 11mths old, a nice youngster, Nice head, Ears ok, he used them on the move too, good teeth, nice proportions throughout, tail on top, coat nice texture, sound on the move, BPD, BPIB.

JD (2)

1 O’Rourke, Kebulak Royal Flush, 17mths, All male!! Nice head, lovely teeth, reachy neck running in to shoulders, coat of nice texture, front movement exaggerated for me on the move but a nice overall picture.

2 Leenderts, Joalyn Royale Joey, 15mths Neat head, would prefer it longer foreface, finer throughout than 1st, longer in the loin, moved ok, closer behind on the move, colour breaking coat nice texture.

LD (2,1)

1 Quigg, Butterfield, Anderson & Watt, Irisblu High Expectations 2yrs old, A powerful male from outset, lovely head of correct proportions, ear position and use best on the day, giving that true kerry expression, long neck into sound shoulders, firm body condition darker in coat but colour is breaking and evident in legs, Nice texture and presented so well. Sound on the move away and back, making a beautiful profile, pleased to award him DCC and BOB. He was also shortlisted in the group.

OD (2,1)

1 Smith, Ch/Am Ch Sheep Creek Outlander Jamie, lovely short coupled dog, nice size, lovely head and expression, using ears at all times, firm body condition, stifle a little straight for me, coat nice texture, movement sound, tail carried flat to back on the move and at rest. Pushed for CC and a worthy Ch, RDCC.

Special Beginners D/B (2)

1 Leenderts, Joalyn Royale Joey, 2nd Wilkinson Cyane River at Cranmoss 2 yrs 3mths B, Pretty head and ears, longer overall than 1st, moved ok but movement closer behind. Her younger handler did well in the ring.

JB (2)

1 McFadden, Kebulak Velvet Rose, just over 12mths, Lovely coat, still dark, Fair head, right ear ‘flying’, firm body condition, flicking right rear leg on the move, but covered ground, handled well.

2 Jones, Joalyn Parsley Moon 15mths, Pretty dainty head, fine throughout, nice teeth, longer in back and loin than 1st, movement much closer behind, Nice soft coat, colour evident, tail carried well on top.

PGB (2)

Both of these bitches have virtues, very different in type.

1 Rafter, Rafscos Annie Get Your Gun, just over 2.5yrs old, top size bitch, fair head, good firm body condition, good bend in stifle, coat in lovely condition, sound on the move.

2 Dearden, Lemracdream Dido. 19mths, Pretty head and ears, lovely expression, coat in lovely condition, movement close behind, a nice profile when stood.

OB (2,2)

1 Clarke-O’Neill Ch Showtime Lady at Lemracdream just over 3.5yrs, lovely bitch, nice clean head, good ears, neck and shoulders, sound on the move, covered ground with vigour, held her topline, a shade close in the rear, coat in lovely condition, darker grey shade BCC, RBOB,

2 Davani & Potts, Kebulak Plum Pudding, 3yr old, nice clean head, good ears neck and shoulders, coat of a lighter grey but showing no wavy texture today, a bit lack lustre on the move today, may be attributed to the warm day a shame as shes a nice bitch, missed out to opposition on the day. RBCC

VB (1,1)

1 Jones Joalyn Sweet Melody, 7yrs, pretty head and ears, a shade long for me, coat of beautiful colour and texture, and in good firm condition, balanced throughout, moved well. BVIB
