Northern Kerry Blue Club Championship Show October 2023

Judge Angela Johnston

Many thanks to the Northern Kerry Blue club for the opportunity to judge your lovely breed which I have admired from ringside for so long.
I was a last minute replacement for Joyce Manton Smith who sadly had to give up her appointment, I would like to wish her all the best and hope she gets well soon.
I had a few absentees which was understandable in the circumstances and is par for the course when taking over another judgeâ s entry however the entry I had was pleasing overall. Thank you to all the exhibitors and committee for the welcome and hospitality, to Lyn Wilkinson who supplied the lovely buffet lunch and to â Super Stewardâ Bob Blackley who kept me on the straight and narrow all day. Especially Carol who was managing to be busy everywhere while keeping everyone in the room happy! And of course to Carmel who with the committee managed to keep the show on the road run an auction and raffle and show her dogs.

Beginners Dog or Bitch (1:0)

1st Adamsonâ s Right Back Taa - Still a lot of maturing to do as he is just such a baby, at the moment he looks a shade long in the back and I would like his muzzle a little stronger level topline good stifle bend and he has a good coat of good texture and moved and showed well.

Novice Dog (1:0)

1st Christians â Torums Topolino â Masculine head good front assembly well laid shoulder level topline Tail well set on and carried, super quarters coat of good colour and texture could be trimmed to better advantage but a lot of quality in this dog

Limit Dog (1:0)

Baxters Clanciarri Pecker Dunne - On his toes, smart dog masculine head good front nice layback of shoulder level topline good tailset meaty quarters good colour and coat moved and showed well

Open Dog (5:2)

1st DCC & BIS Smithâ s Am. Ch. Sheep Creek Outlander Jamie (Imp USA) Very correct for size and all Kerry male, his head could be a shade more refined but super ears and expression, long neck well laid shoulders, level topline held well on the move Tail on top strong meaty quarters good bend of stifle, stood well over his ground, moved soundly from all angles and showed himself with the attitude and pazazz I love to see in this breed.

2nd & RDCC Somers Ch Catchagorm Checkmate by Dogazza (AI) â a taller dog than 1st beautiful silver blue coat of good texture and condition, clean head, I would prefer his ears a shade lighter, long neck, well laid shoulder, level topline, moved soundly and showed well.

3rd McGarryâ s Balboa Giramonde

Puppy Bitch (2:1)

1st Clarke Oâ Neilâ s Lemracdream Shakira â Super puppy, lovely profile Clean head, Good ears Nice length of neck well laid shoulders, level topline Tail on top with a good shelf and well muscled quarters just lost out to her litter sister for BPB boy were they hard to split!

Junior Bitch (2:1)

1st & BPIS Deardonâ s Lemracdream Dido litter sister to 1st in puppy bitch and they are extremely difficult to separate in the ring the same remarks apply to both. Both are structurally well made, Sound, with lovely clean heads and good coats with colour starting to change already, I just preferred the drive of this one on the move.

Post Graduate Bitch (2:0)

1st Rafters Rafsco Annie Get Ya Gun â a different type to 2nd , Substantial girl with good head proportions, ears a shade heavy, good length of neck & well laid shoulders, level topline, tail on top with a good shelf, moves out freely if a little close behind, showed well.

2nd Wilkinsonâ s Cyane River at Cranmoss â Pretty feminine bitch, clean head & Good ears, level topline would like a little more shelf behind the tail, movement was difficult to assess.

Limit Bitch (5:2)

1st & RBCC - C&C Allan-Forrest â Sapphire Freedom of Lacarnaveen , Very elegant youngster, lovely balanced profile, Clean head, ears a shade light, lovely long neck, well laid shoulders, level topline excellent tail set on and carriage with plenty behind, coat of good texture and showing colour, moved and showed freely and with purpose and drive.

3rd Baxters Croftsblue the Nipper â This is a nice bitch with a lovely rear end and very sound good coat and colour and moved and showed well, could be just trimmed all over to better advantage.
