KERRY BLUE JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 16
Kerry Blue Terrier
Overall a pleasing entry, better depth of quality in the bitches. Shoulders in general could be improved, and movement would benefit from dogs being moved at the pace that is right for the individual dog. Worryingly there were too many ‘mucky eyes’ and a problem with lower incisors not being as the breed standard requires. Whilst I expect a true Kerry to be full of spirit I do not expect it to be directed at the judge!
Puppy Dog 3
1. Martin’s Clanciarrai Coada, quality pup, lovely size, good reach of neck , keen expression, big ribs. Moved with drive and reach. Res CC, Best Puppy
2. Forrest & Scott’s Lacarnaveen One & Only, another quality pup, nice size good head and expression. Moved well enough.
3. Davani’s Kebulak Wear My Kiss up to size, long head with good expression, would prefer him more compact. Did not really settle on the move.
Junior Dog 1
1. Seddon & Butler’s Lemracdream Donatello, 17month dog, large enough, lovely soft coat. Moving close behind, but then going too fast.
Post Graduate Dog 3 (1abs)
1. Carter’s Kebulak French Connection, large rather rangy dog with good head and expression.
2. Easton & MacKay’s Kebulak Heart of Stone with Widdershins, lovely size, good colour, but soft expression and topline falling away.
Limit Dog 3 (1 abs)
1. Cassin’s Balboa Saladin, quality young dog, good head ears and ken expression. Soundly made, colour coming through well. Moved soundly and showed well. His exaggerated trim did not do his make and shape justice, nevertheless CC.
2. Earle & Kelly’s Miculadh Edge of Glory at Dollagh, nice size lovely coat and colour. Front and temperament did not please.
Open Dog 1
1. Clarke O’Neill’s Ch Ir Ch Lemracdream The Navigator, impressive dog dog with long head, heavy ears which detracted. Big ribs, good tailset. Good colour, would have preferred better shoulders and coat texture.
Minor Puppy Bitch 3 (1 abs)
1. Earle & Kelly’s Clanciarrai Adante at Dollagh, nice size young lady, neat head, good expression, front must tighten.
2. Cooper’s Crystal Moonshine at Newcheshire, smart pup, with lovely outline who threw her chances away by not showing.
Puppy Bitch 1
1. Forrest & Scott’s Lacarnaveen My Little Rose, quality bitch pup with lovely head, well made throughout. Moved well enough, a little skittish, time will only improve.
Junior Bitch 1
1. Ensell’s Nemiah Shades of Grey, top quality bitch, correct size, long head excellent ear carriage, lovely arched neck, short back, big ribs. Moved well with drive, full of attitude CC & BOB
Post Graduate Bitch 3
1. Munro’s Arkama Guilty Pleasure, quality bitch, lovely size, colour coming through well. Soundly made, showing and moving well for her empathetic young handler.
2. Hetherington’s Irisblu Aiveen for Newent, quality bitch, nice size, good head, big ribs. Reach of neck and shoulders not as pleasing as those of winner.
3. Carter’s Kebulak Belly Dancer
Limit Bitch 6 (1abs)
1. Walter’s Kebulak Queen of Hearts at Kamaghan, quality short backed bitch. Lovely size, well made throughout, coat of good colour.
2. Clarke O’Neill’s Lemracdream Blue Ivy quality compact bitch with well sprung ribs.
3. McCann’s Ballybaloe Mary Poppins quality bitch rather up on the leg, full of the spirit that defines a Kerry.
Open Bitch 5 (1abs)
1. Walter’s Kebulak Dominatrix at Kamaghan, compact quality bitch short back, good head ears and expression. Res CC
2. Craig’s Ir Ch Clanciarrai Claddagh Ring worthy title holder, lovely coat and colour, good head ears and expression. Big enough and rather on the leg.
3. Arson’s Kebulak Miss Sixty, quality bitch with good head, ears and expression.
