MANCHESTER BATH 12 Judge: Mr P R Eardley MANCHESTER JUDGE BATH 12 Manchester Terriers I enjoyed my first CC appointment in Manchester Terriers & was pleased with the size of the entry given that terriers were scheduled on a week day. I think that breeders should be congratulated as the temperament of the dogs has so improved & they all handled well. There are rather a lot of proud tails & some toplines do flatten on the move. Excellent mouths all round. PD (0). JD (1) 1 Clifton, Rosser & Roberts’ Gloryline Charles Brandon, nice head, good size & in good condition. A little proud of his tail & topline flattened a little on the move but worthy of his award. ND (0). PGD (1 ) 1 Olbinson & Kelly’s Paucelin Andoni, similar comments to the junior dog, good size, nicely headed, lovely temperament. A bit proud of his tail & tending to flatten on the move. LD (3) It was an interesting competition between the two limit dogs with each having different qualities that I liked. 1 Eva’s Sophyla Sam Brown, good headed boy with a nice head, good mover particularly in the rear, lovely tan markings & in good condition with a lovely gloss to the coat; 2 Clowes’ Churnet Canzone, I preferred the compactness of this boy, good rear. Not quite as tidy in front as the winner & not really wanting to use his ears. Very typy. OD (6) This was a lovely class to judge. There was no easy winner so I really had to work to sort out my placings. 1 Brander’s Ch Churnet Concerto at Menfreya, a real stallion, a little bigger than I would like but all male. Absolutely cracking head & expression & uses his ears so well, excellent temperament, really good hard condition, correctly marked, good glossy coat, good in rear, a very worthy winner of the CC. In the challenge for BOB the testosterone cut in & he was just too interested in the girls to concentrate on the job in hand; 2 Norris’ Brookstream Louis de Blue, presented some tough competition here, not quite as ‘up’ as the winner. Lovely rich tan markings, in fact probably the best tan of the day, good head, nice in profile movement. Not quite the rear of the winner. Well worthy of the RCC; 3 Beardow’s Ch Int Ch World Talanors Hellova Treat for Sipowit. PB (4) 1 Morris’ Calastoa’s Lucky Star, pretty puppy who takes the eye with her nice outline when standing, good size. Ears need to settle a little but are very well set. Moved well when she settled, very promising; 2 Brander’s Nightstorms Miss Chevious at Menfreya, good type, good on the move. Ears a little untidy. Good outline when standing & a useful size; 3 Palmer’s Egloshayle Fallen Angel. JB (2) 1 Oxley’s Digelsa De Ja Vu, a real eyecatcher who just comes into the ring & sets herself perfectly, of clear champion grading, lovely size & so feminine but without losing any substance, beautiful head, feminine but losing none of the strength required, standing her outline is perfect & she moves well, she has showmanship which is why she catches the eye & in the challenge she just moved up a gear & defied me to overlook her which I couldn’t. CC, BOB. Looked really well in the group; 2 Cawley’s Digelsa Dancing With Darla, litter sister to the winner & has many of her attributes, good size, well handled. Not quite the head & ears of her sister & not quite as showy but is certainly very competitive. NB (2) 1 Wicker’s Mimbre Cadenza’s pretty girl, handled well on the table, good outline standing & steady on the move, good tan, shows promise; 2 Rosser & Roberts’ Gloryline Catherine Parr, nice head but a bit untidy in ears. Nice size. Tail a little gay. PGB (3) 1 Dunford & Akrigg Paucelin Armana by Quixol, very typy young lady, great head & good ears that she uses so well, lovely outline standing & moving & in lovely condition, really caught my eye, pushed the CC winner hard & beat off the challenge from the open winner who I have done well before to take the RCC. One for the upper house I would think; 2 G Catherine Parr; 3 Buxton’s Talanors Magic Moment for Millacome. LB (3) Interesting class with different things to weigh up on them all. 1 Leigh’s Calastoa English Rose to Mansiya, a little bigger than my ideal but lovely tan. Super glossy coat, nicely headed but a bit lazy with her ears, could be better behind; 2 Wicker’s Mimbre Solitaire, better size, good head & ears. A bit wide in front which put her out of balance; 3 Hammett’s Digelsa Double Take for Bryedal. OB (4) 1 Morris’ Ch Calastoa Ruby Tuesday, really good size, very typy, great show temperament & has a lovely outline. Moving just a shade wide. I have done her well before & she was unlucky to come up against two youngsters on such good form. More than deserves her title; 2 SAXTON & DALE’s Egloshayle Sea Sprite of Rattustrap, nice sort. Not as neat in head & ears as the winner & is slightly longer cast. Nice outline, overall a very nice girl; 3 Palmer’s Ch Egloshayle Sea Lily. Breeder Group Palmer’s trio, matched each other well & all very typical. PAUL EARDLEY |
