Manchester Terriers

For some years rather a ‘cinderella breed’, but fast coming back into its own. Students of the breed, (if they can find a copy of Illustrated Dogs, by Theo Marples, first published well over a century ago), will find his comments on the breed fascinating. He says as companion dogs, they have no peers, with their short coats, intelligent handy size, claiming they have been about for centuries. Certainly Lowry’s paintings would convey, they were the popular dog of his time, in the North it is good to see them back, making good competition. Some good youngsters, also making their presence felt. The Standard calls for a slight arch over the loin. All mouths were excellent with large strong teeth.

PD (4)

1 Brown’s Talanors Sweet Dreams, excellent type, moving so well, shade long in loin, but won well today;

2 Harrison’s Magpiebank Ash, can turn the tables, neat dog of quality, correct topline, has time to firm in front;

3 Freer & Priestman’s Felfree Top Oscar.

JD (2)

1 Willis’ Talanors Super Treat, good head & eye, has substance with quality. Just needs to lift his head on the move, & will do well;

2 Harrison’s Digelsa Declaration, can do well, but needs some ring training.

PGD (0).

LD (3)

1 Ferguson’s Felfree Rocket, high class, with excellent head, eye & ears. Moving correctly fore & aft, with correct topline. Lovely dog, well deserved his win today. CC & BOB;

2 Olbinson & Kelly’s Paucelin Andoni at Carapast, another quality, one of finer build, not so positive in front action, but still lots to recommend;

3 Hemsell’s Tetani Wizard Of Dreams.

OD (7)

1 DUnford, Akrigg & Walton’s Ch Quixol Alexander, a worthy ch, I rated him highly as a youngster when I awarded him a RCC. True represenative of the breed, with correct topline. RCC;

2 Beardow’s Ch/Int Ch Talanors Hellova Treat for Sipowitz, neat well balanced, good head & eye, lovely quality all through;

3 Charlton’s Ch Digelsa Diamond Geeza at Lizelms. VD (0).

PB (7,1a)

1 Dunford & Akrigg’s Quixol Soiree, one for the future. Classic little lady. Make, shape & soundness all there. Handler does not need to move her so fast;

2 Wicker’s Mimbre Bombette, at the raw stage, has time, for the quality is there;

3 Peacham’s Felfree A Touch Of Glam.

JB (3)

1 Smith’s Simjest Kiara’s Candy Girl, lovely example. Well balanced, with correct topline, moving well. A real picture, must have a bright future. CC:

2 Thurlow’s Erkenwyne Lady Guinevere, standing this one catches the eye, but could have been more collected on the move;

3 Walsahw’s Digelsa Diva avec Janmark.

PGB (5)

1 E Lady Guinevere;

2 Keates’ Rattustrap Roaring Meg, so much to like, that is true about the breed, but the topline rather exaggerated;

3 Saville’s Querceti Isadora for Dobermatian.

LB (6)

1 Smith’s Calastoa’s Lady Of Meltham at Simjest, smart, well balanced, good head & eye, moving well;

2 Harrison’s Sophyla Sophie, so much to like, her unsettled ear carriage did not help today;

3 R Roaring Meg.

OB (4)

1 Oxley’s Ch Digelsa De Ja Vu, in good order, strong quarters, good head & eye. Worthy ch;

2 Saxton & Dale’s Rattustrap Top Totty, pretty, neat, & quality all through Not so positive moving;

3 Dunford & Akrigg’s Paucelin Armana by Quixol.

VB (2)

1 Hemsell’s Tetani Princess Of Darkness, carries her age well, with correct topline;

2 Eva’s Sophyla Secret Formula, good head & eye, another laster, close up.
