MANCHESTER JUDGE EAST OF ENGLAND 16
I would like to thank The East of England Agricultural Society for my appointment, the two fantastic stewards who ensured smooth running of the ring at all times and to the exhibitors for their entries. All who accepted my decisions with great sportsmanship.
Exhibitors, please can I draw your attention to teeth and feet. Although all had the correct scissor bite I was disappointed to see some exhibits with dirty teeth.
I also found many exhibits with excessively long nails making the foot elongate so losing the semi hare foot that is so distinctive of the breed.

1 Sharpesâ Erkenywne Othello At Rosettia. 9 months, well up to size and very mature for age. Strongly muscled throughout with solid bone to match his frame. Head still to mature but his correct dark almond eye was immediately noticeable. So too was his rich mahogany tan with correct markings. Would like a stronger underjaw for a better wedge to his head. Unfortunately, very lazy with his ears which spoilt his expression. Excelled in body with deep chest, correct rise over the loin and well cut up underneath. Sound fluid movement all ways.
2 Straughan & Crippsâ Talanors In For A Treat. A perfectly compact and balanced youngster of ideal height. Stood soundly and a real picture in profile. Front could be stronger when viewed head on. Liked his wedged head and sparkling eye. Ears well set but not carrying them to his advantage. Tan rich and well marked. He moved out with purpose but his front was a little loose. Iâ m sure this will improve on maturity. Pushed the class winner hard.

1 Geraghtysâ Mojero Bowmore. Compact male with a superb thick & dense coat. Strongly muscled and in hard condition. Tan now fading but still displays strong thumbprints. Good head with fill beneath the eye but ears very flighty and would benefit from a little more length of muzzle. Front straight and clean, but needs more reach of neck and a touch more rear angulation for correct balance. Moved with enthusiasm but tending to crab at times.
2 Pyesâ Erkenwyne Go For Broke At Perromono. Extremely underweight which is reflected both when standing and on the move. Ribs and pin bones very noticeable, even at a distance, giving him a gaunt appearance. He has muscle and what is there is fairly firm, but lacking in the required mass for a breed needing lots of stamina in short bursts. Chest shallow with no depth. Saying that with weight & covering he would have much potential as the basics of a pleasing shape are there. Movement erratic both front & rear due to lack of body strength. Though his eye is a little light, I liked his head very much which was strong and wedged. His condition cost him dearly today.

1 Priestmansâ Felfree Top Oscar JW. This 3 year old male caught by eye immediately on entering the ring. He had that â look at meâ terrier sparkle which spoke volumes. He fills the standard so well with his compact elegant shape. The darkest of almond eyes set in a strong, well filled wedged head of good length. Ears well set but could be better carried & used. The best of necks leading into a well laid shoulder and clean front. Body compact and in hard muscle throughout, covered by a gleaming jet black coat with a rich deep tan. Showed himself off every minute and moved steadily and fluidly. Excels coming and going with straight free limbs. Would like a little more reach and drive in profile to complete the picture. Handled very well. Couldnâ t deny him BD & BOB.
2 Hebbsâ Paucelin Faulster JW. Taller male yet still good for size and height. Masculine wedged head with the ear carried high pointing to the eye, setting his head off to perfection. Very good front assembly with elegant neck, shoulder and clean forelimbs set well underneath. Standing on good feet. Elegant in body with the correct slight rise over the loin and tuck behind the ribs. Rear could be better as it is wide when both standing naturally and on the move making for a lack of drive that end. Has a tendency to pace but his handler corrected this well. Correct tan and markings.

1 Fitch & Reevesâ Westwytch Calico Cadeau. This 12 year old has the has the physique and muscle tone of one much younger and its only his faded tan that gives his age away. In tip top condition and still has the keen alert look that one would expect of the breed. So elegant but all male with a spark & regal air that couldnâ t be overlooked. A head that many would envy, as is per standard and hard to fault. Beautiful crest to his neck which is set into a strong shoulder. Still firm in body and holds his topline solidly both standing and on the move. Moved freely and a joy to watch. A real credit to his owners/ handler. RBD

1 Walkersâ Talanors Treat Me Good At Sizlin.9 month old feminine girl with much potential. Instantly eye catching and for one so young is so together physically and mentally. Compact and elegant throughout. A real picture standing as she flows with her elegant curves in all the right places. Pretty headed but not weak in any way. Once settled her movement is hard to fault. Straight and true with good reach and drive. At one with her handler.
One to watch. BP & RBB
2 Brownsâ Erkenwyne Willow The Wisp. Overawed by the day and unfortunately this told in her performance. However, she is very pretty with many breed correct points and you can see her potential. Still lots of maturing to do and at the moment is a tad leggy. With time, patience and more ring training she could do well.

1 Keatesâ Simjest Lady Tiana. 17 months old with a very pleasing wedged head. Ears a tad big and flighty at times which is a shame. Rich tan but makings should be clearer defined. Well balanced fore and rear with a very good front, however would like more elegance to the body which is a tad too long making her tense her back to compensate occasionally. Moved out and handled really well but was a little flat footed at the rear on the move.

1 Wickersâ Mimbre Bombette. Tall girl but put together well and in proportion. Feminine head with a keen look and well carried ears. Correct front with the required lay of shoulder and probably the best turn of stifle of the day which made her movement smooth in profile and tidy coming & going. Just needs to carry her neck higher to complete the picture. Pushed hard for top honours.
2 Sharpesâ Rosettia High Hopes. Very pretty in head with a good eye and neat ears when they settled. Deep tan and very good markings throughout. Front too narrow but well set under her. Loved her elegant neck and solid topline but a little shapeless under. Moved and handled very well.
3 Geraghtysâ Mojero Solamente Uno

1 Thurlowsâ Erkenwyne Lady Guinevere JW ShCM. 3 year old very feminine girl in the best of coat and condition. Solid noticeable muscle without losing femininity. Probably one of the soundest moving Manchesters Iâ ve seen which couldnâ t be faulted on the day. Could have a stronger head and darker eye but still has more than enough strength. Just needs to carry her ears a higher but when she did her head was framed to perfection. Really clean throughout with elegance from nose to tail. Just needs better rear angulation for the ideal balance. BB

1 Geraghtysâ Tyburn Laodice. 8 year old girl. Lovely shape to her body but a trifle stuffy in her neck. Excepting this ideal proportions throughout and of correct height. Super coat and in A1 condition with noticeably good markings. Moved steadily and true but not with the spark & enthusiasm Iâ ve seen in the past.
