MANCHESTER JUDGE MANCHESTER 25
MANCHESTER CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW – 19th January 2025
Manchester Terrier
Some good quality Manchester’s taking top honours here today, thanks to everyone for your entry.. My main overall view is that breeders need to be aware of the first line of the breed standard which says “Compact, elegant and sound with substance”. Too many these days are lacking in substance, Manchester’s are hardy quick killers, they need bone and substance .
The second line reads “Keen, alert, gay and sporting. Handlers need to get the very best out of their charges. Terriers are a tough group to compete in so you need to work hard and show them to their maximum potential for the short time you are in the ring. Unfortunately today some looked like they were out for a Sunday afternoon stroll, with their ears back and sluggish movement.
Class 2895 PD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
Two very nice puppies to start the day. I’m sure they will have some fun competing against each other .
1st: LOMAS, Miss Catherine - Axaldarn Viking Wolf : At 8 months he is very good for size, excellent in profile and in super coat and condition, has enough bone and substance for his age and just how a show dog should be. Has a lovely head which still needs to mature, small dark eye of good shape, he does need to use his ears a bit more. Good topline with the correct rise over the loin, and tail set on perfectly. Nice depth of chest for his age, straight front and decent rear angulation. Moved very well for his age. Best puppy
2nd: HANCOCKS, Mr Graham & BAILEY, Miss Lynn - Rattustrap Crimes At Night : Another super puppy, has a lovely elegant and flowing outline, scores in head, he has a better ear carriage than 1 at this time, super dark almond eye, good length of neck into well laid shoulders, not quite the rear angulation of 1, he was a touch unsettled on the move.
Class 2897 PGD (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: BROWN, Mr Gareth & DAVIES, Ms Mandy - Wystry Agony And Ecstasy JW : An 18 month masculine boy, up to size but all in proportion, he has what the standard call for “substance”, has a super head, dark almond eye fantastic muzzle with plenty of under jaw, good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, excellent chest with good depth, straight front and goodrear angulation, he moved well in all directions.
2nd: FITCH, Mrs Fay & CRAWFORD, Mrs Victoria - Thunder Dragon Precious Adventure : Good for size, very alert and showing himself off to advantage, lovely head and eye, ears of good size and shape but hanging a touch low. Would have preferred more lay back of shoulder as it spoiled his reach going forward, has decent drive from the rear.
3rd: LANCASTER, Miss Faye & ROSSER, Mr Paul - Erkenwyne Wildfire
Class 2898 LD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: WALKER, Mrs Jean - Wystry Depths Of Glory For Sizlin JW : This boy fits the standard very well, he is good for size, has a lovely profile, Dark almond eye, good ear shape and set, but wasn’t using them to advantage, has an excellent mouth and under jaw, his topline flows with a super tail set, has a very good front, with brisket down to elbow and also showing some forechest, straight front with good dense bone, Covered the ground well. Res CC
2nd: BROWN, Mr Gareth & DAVIES, Ms Mandy - Wystry Dempsey's Tipple JW : He fits the standard to being keen, alert and was showing his head off, super head with a correct wedge from both front and side views, small neat ears, straight front good depth of chest, looks good in profile, was a touch out of coat and not quite the reach in front as 1.
Class 2899 OD (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: BARLOW, Mrs Doreen - Ch Talanors Time For Magic : What a lovely class to judge. Here we have an impressive, mature male who ticks all the boxes and is an excellent example of the breed. He is standard size and has everything in proportion. Excellent head with a flat skull, perfect ears which he used all the time, small dark almond shaped eye, good reach of neck showing a slight crest into well laid shouders, very good topline and tail set, straight front and complementing rear angulation, he moves freely with good reach at the front and drive from behind, pleased to award him the CC & Best of Breed
2nd: BROADHURST, Mrs Lynn- Eaglespur Dutch Showman : I liked this boy when I judged him a couple of years ago and am pleased to sat he has really matured well. He has a lovely head and eye, good wedge from front and in profile, good length of neck with well placed shoulders, slight rise over the loin and very good tail set, he moved well in all directions.

1st: HANCOCKS, Mr Graham & BAILEY, Miss Lynn - Rattustrap Crimes At Night : (Repeat) Best Special beginners
2nd: LANCASTER, Miss Faye & ROSSER, Mr Paul - Erkenwyne Wildfire : A very elegant male, he looks like he still needs to mature and his chest needs to drop. Pleasing head shape, ears are a touch big and he wasn’t using them, good length of neck with a very curvy topline, his markings could be stronger. He was a little overawed by the occasion today which spoiled his movement.
Class 2902 PB (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: WEST, Mrs Annette - Junetta Fenetta : A lovely puppy almost a year old, very feminine still with plenty of bone and substance, has a well proportioned head, excellent eye, strong teeth, very good length of neck into well placed shoulders, slight rise over the loin with a good tail set, nice short tail too. She has a good depth of chest with complementing tuck up, very good rear angulation and moved with drive.

Changing her coat which doesn’t help at this time of year.
Class 2903 JB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

She has a very feminine head with a sweet expression, using her ears well which is always good when showing, excellent neck into well laid shoulders, very good topline and one of the best tail sets and carriage of the day, moved well as she settled down.
