MANCHESTER JUDGE RICHMOND 16

I would like to thank Richmond committee for the invitation to judge and my exhibitors for their entries. The wet and windy weather conditions were not conducive to showing this breed and even the experienced handlers found it a challenge. Had it been a nice sunny day the placings may well have been very different! Pleased to say that all the dogs had a correct bite and there were no dirty teeth.

PD (3)
Three very different pups in this class, each with varying strengths and weaknesses. The final decision came down to movement.

1. Sharpe`s Erkenwyne Othello at Rosettia – 11 months old, over the ideal height for the breed but well balanced and full of bone and substance. Strong head with good markings, could have used his ears to better advantage. Kept his topline on the move and strode out with reach and drive. Definitely the best mover of the class. BPD; BPIB

2. Straughan & Cripps Talanors in for a Treat – another 11 month old, correct size, good head and expression, well marked. Correct topline and well constructed, although would prefer a little more bend of stifle. Did not like the weather and was not happy on the move which was a shame as I have seen him do much better in the past

3. Downie`s Egloshayle Prince Piran

JD (2)

1. Church`s Rattustrap Charlie Brown – correct size dog, good wedge head with small dark eye, well marked with a small vent. Pleasing outline with a good tuck up. Moved well. Pushed hard for the RCC but his time will come.

2. 1. Sharpe`s Erkenwyne Othello at Rosettia

LD (2, 1a)

1. Priestman`s Felfree Top Oscar – Elegant, compact dog, well marked, lovely dark eye. Slight arch over loin and good tuck up giving him a nice outline from the side but he could do with losing a little weight as looking down on him his waistline has disappeared. Nevertheless, a smart little dog and moved out well

OD (2)

1. Harrison`s Magpiebank Ash –judged this dog as a youngster and gave him his first RCC. Delighted to upgrade him today to his second CC. He has not disappointed as he has matured. Well up for size but still balanced and in proportion. Good wedge head, with dark eye and good markings, using his ears well. Strong neck leading into straight narrow front. Good tuck up and correct topline. Once settled, moved out well with reach and drive. Very pleased to hear later that he was shortlisted in the final 8 in the Terrier Group. CC, BOB

2. Walshaw`s Talanors Diamonds N Dreams avec Janmark JW ShCM – Well constructed dog, good for size. Small dark eye and small ears held well. Correct topline and good tuck up. Not happy today on the table, probably due to the weather ,but once settled did move out smartly RCC

VB (1)

1. Geraghty`s Tyburn Laodice – 9 years old, showing some grey on her muzzle but still sprightly on the move and enjoying her day out. Carrying a little bit of extra weight but apparently she has just suffered a phantom. Still compact and elegant with good markings and a cheeky look in her eye. Moving well despite the cold and the rain. BV

PB (1)

1. Brown`s Erkenwyne Willow the Wisp – 11 months old, compact and elegant small size girl with good markings. Seemed rather over awed by the whole experience but was quite good on the table and when she did decide to move showed a little bit of fluidity

LB (2, 1a)

1. Sharpe`s Rosettia High Hopes – Compact, elegant little bitch with strong markings and a good outline. A nice tuck up and neat feet. Shown in good hard condition and has a decent bend of stifle so moved out with reach and drive.

OB (2)

1. Saxton,Dale & Emrick`s Ch Rattustrap Imperial Red, JW Beautiful bitch, in good condition. Perfect head with dark eye and good markings. Lovely crest of neck and narrow front. Deep chest and lovely spring of rib with a good tuck up giving a very pleasing outline. Has a good bend of stifle and moved out with reach and drive. CC

2. Thurlow`s Erkenwyne Lady Guinevere, JW,ShCM – very similar to 1 but would prefer a little more bend of stifle and a better tuck up. Compact and elegant and a good size. Could use one ear slightly better. Good mover and shown in well muscled condition RCC
