MANCHESTER RICHMOND 18 Judge: Mr Ron Irving BEST OF BREED : 1929 KNIGHT Mr C & Mrs G Talanors Typically Special MANCHESTER JUDGE RICHMOND 18 I was sorry that Liz Cartledge was unable to carry out this appointment but was pleased to stand in for her. We all wish her a very speedy return to good health. It must be around fifteen years since I last awarded CCs to the breed in the UK, and I think it has made considerable progress in that time. With only twelve exhibits present on this occasion it is not fair to make general comments on the breed from that entry, but I think that movement has improved over the years. Size on the other hand seems to have increased considerably and many of the dogs present here today, including some of my winners, were well over the standard 15/16 inch level. Tail carriage too often gave cause for concern and there were too many which carried their tails far too high. 1. Spain's Talanors Diamond Tornado, OK in skull with enough length and good under the eye, good ears carried correctly. Excellent neck with enough arch and good topline. Carried his tail a bit high at times and though he is not small by any means, he had enough spring of rib, moved well behind where he was well muscled. Could be slightly better in front movement but correct shape of feet and was well proportioned overall. Went on to win the DCC. I see he is the same way bred as the BOB winner. 1. Straughan & Cripps Talanors In For A Treat, another that was good in head and correct skull good shape of eye and neck with enough arch. Topline typical, not too bad for size but again carried tail rather high. Moved OK behind but somewhat out at elbow in front when moving. 1. Charlton's Ch Digelsa Done N' Dusted at Lizelms, pleasing dog but didn't always use his ears correctly and carried tail rather too high. OK for size and pleasing enough in topline. Good feet and could be more positive in movement. Res DCC. 1. Clark's Erkenwyne Enchanted, this young bitch was pleasing enough in head, skull and cheeks, but didn't use her ears well at times. While she is capable of standing OK in topline, she loses it when asked to move around the ring. OK for size. Carried tail OK. She moves OK behind when she gets going but could be more positive in front movement. She needs more ring training and confidence 1. Cawley's Marlablue Queen Bee, OK for size and scored over 2 for movement and for general make and shape. Rather small in head but OK in eye, good ears. Good underline and correct cut up. Went OK in front and behind. Kept her topline well going around. Scored over 2 for size, confidence and movement. 2. West's Pantycelyn Picture Perfect with Junetta, it is a pity that she is so apprehensive in the ring and she needs a bit more ring training and confidence. She could be a shade shorter in body. Turns her hocks in slightly behind, and could move more positively in front. If she settled better in the ring she might move a shade better. 1. Knight's Talanors Typically Special, I thought a very pleasing and typey bitch of good size and not overdone in any way. She was good in head and expression with the correct ears well carried. Good neck and topline and correct over the loin. She carried her tail correctly. She has just the right amount of bone for her size. Moved OK in front and behind. Well muscled behind and was of the correct proportions. BCC and BOB 2. Goodwin's Digelsa Date Night at Holtaire, another whose head and skull were good. Scored in ears over 3. Good for size. Didn't move as well as the winner but had correct feet. Well muscled behind. Correct spring of rib and good underline. Could be a bit tidier in front movement. 3. Heller's Limoncello Cecilia Beaux Sh.CM 1. Greenslade's Utterbygreen Mint Chocolat, standing she looks really good but going around the ring she doesn't hold her topline as well as one would have hoped. She scored over 2 by being shorter in body. She is good for size and carried her tail a bit high at times. She scored for ring confidence over 2. RBCC 2. Knight's Talanors Diamond Treat, good skull and correct eye and expression. Good ears. Standing she looked OK but was pacing occasionally when moving and also didn't move very well even at the trot. She could be a shade shorter in body to complete the picture and could have a shorter tail. Well muscled behind and correct in feet.
