I was pleased with the general condition of the exhibits, most with excellent dentition, good movement & general fitness with just a few exceptions in the form of short forefaces giving rise in each case to level bites. One or two long backs but no oversized bitches or exaggerations just Stafford bitches that looked like Stafford bitches. MP (5,2a) 1 Jackson & Whitehouse’s Bourtie Wot A Steal, b/br/w, what a cracking pup, very well balanced, strong well shaped head of correct proportions, lovely mouth with nice tight lips & good bite, neat ears, dark round eye, good straight well boned front with neat feet, strong neck blending into good shoulders with good chest, plenty of rib, short level back into good strong backend, plenty of muscle on the thigh, neat tail with no exaggerations, moved & handled well. BP; 2 Robinson’s Boydslass Bevin Bell, another nice pup, same age as 1 but not quite as mature. Nice head, good mouth & bite, dark eye & neat ears, good square front, plenty of bone on the leg, nice amount of rib, level topline, good strong backend, moved & handled well; 3 Thompson’s Bourtie Out Of The Limelight at Bullred. P (11) 1 Thomas’ Niatona Stolen Kisses at Valortaurus, b/br, more suited to MP, head needs to fill out yet but still a nice clean shape. Good mouth & bite, dark eye, very nice ears, good straight front with plenty of bone for age, good shoulders & rib, nice level topline & strong backend, moved & handled well; 2 Hyde’s Sedgbred Black Angel, b/br/w, nice pup, nice head, mouth & ears, nice dark eye, good front. Not quite the bone or body of 1 but plenty of time to develop & still a very attractive pup. Good mover; 3 O’Donohue’s Jaybecadans Touch Of Class. J (8) 1 Robinson & Hedges’ Ledger Photo Finish for Ramblix, b/br, exceptional young bitch just out of puppy, a real eyecatcher, lovely shaped head of correct proportions, nice tight lips, correct bite, very nice large round dark eyes & very neat ears, strong neck blending into good shoulders, good well boned front, plenty of rib, excellent topline, short close coupled body, very strong backend, so well balanced with no exaggerations, turned out & handled as one would expect, excellent mover; 2 Johnson’s Tillcarr Black Betty, b/br/w, lovely bitch, well balanced, good head & mouth with correct bite, nice round dark eyes & neat ears, very good wide front, plenty of bone on straight legs, strong short neck into powerful shoulders, plenty of rib, good strong backend, excellent mover; 3 Davies’ Sebsonic Sweet Success. Y (9) 1 S Sweet Success, mahogany brindle, missed out in the previous class because of the quality of the two winners, not that she has no quality of her own. Beautiful shaped head, nice black mask, tight lips with excellent bite, lovely dark eyes, very neat ears, excellent shoulders & front, strong straight legs, good ribs, level topline. Just a little longer back than I prefer but makes up for this with her overall attributes. Very fit & alert, moved & handled well; 2 Boote’s Valglo Abbily’s Dream, b/br, nice bitch, good shaped head, tight lips, good bite, dark eyes, neat ears, strong neck into good shoulders, good front with well boned legs, good rib & level top, good strong backend, good mover, well handled; 3 Mathews & Jones’ Gallantstaff Pleasant Gift. PG (11,2) 1 Hurst & Bibby’s Taraiel Trinity, b/br/w, small but perfectly formed, caught my eye right away, on the small side but perfectly balanced, everything fitted together perfectly, lovely shaped head, tight lips, good mouth, round dark eye, very neat ears, though small she has a powerful neck blending nicely into strong shoulders with well boned legs & good wide front, good spring of rib, short strong back, level topline & strong backend. A little nervy through I suspect lack of being handled but her handler managed well & she moved well for her; 2 Evans’ Ryestaff Another Riffraf, b/br, not quite as balanced as 1 but nice nonetheless. Good shaped head, tight lips & good bite, dark round eye, neat ears, strong short neck blending into good shoulders, well boned legs & good deep chest, good rib, strong level back, strong backend & neat tail, moved & handled well; 3 Ford & Morgan’s Jackstaff Fire Opal at Jefnor. ML (0). L (12,2) 1 Day & Needham’s Stormpike Ebony And Ivory at Bullred, b/br, she is one I have always admired & to see her there in front of me to go over made my day, beautifully balanced, lovely shaped head & expression, nice tight lips, very good mouth with excellent bite, large round intelligent eyes, very neat ears, short powerful neck, good square front, well boned straight legs & neat feet, good deep ribs, short level back, very strong backend, in tip top condition, handled to perfection & a great mover. It was a pleasure to give her the CC especially being told later that she has four RCCs; 2 Cairns’ Dinalghi Touch Of Class, beautiful bitch, so similar to 1 in nearly all respects, very well balanced, lovely head shape, good mouth & bite, dark eye & neat ears, good strong short neck & powerful shoulders, good chest, strong straight legs with neat feet. Plenty of rib just a touch longer back than 1 but still strong & level, good strong backend, well handled, excellent mover; 3 Simpson’s Briganah Black Orchid. O (8,1) 1 McGee & Carne’s Habstaff Sleeping Beauty, her name might be sleeping beauty, but beauty she is sleeping she is not, another cracking bitch, br/w with everything going for her. I only wish I could have given two CCs because she deserved one but had to do with the RCC. Lovely shaped head, very well balanced body made a picture, good tight mouth, excellent bite, dark eye & neat ears, very powerful neck & shoulders, strong square front, great rib, short back, very level top, powerful backend, moved & handled well. RCC; 2 Plant’s Subaron Sharrann, b/br/w, very nice bitch, well balanced, good shaped head, good mouth & bite, dark eye & neat ears, strong neck, good shoulders & front, well boned legs, plenty of rib, level top & strong backend, moved & handled well; 3 Smart & Pritchard’s Arnhen Twice As Nice.
