Usk Showground, Gwernesney, Near Usk, Mon Judge(s) Dr David Harris [USA] BD BADLESMERE BLACKMAIL (MRS J SHAW)
Pleasing entry with plenty of good heads & quality dogs on display. Size ranged much more than I anticipated. Some were way bigger than the desired 14 inches; these may be nice Bull Terriers, but they don’t conform to the Standard. In the absence of typy Minis of about correct size, I have no problem putting up a bigger exhibit. But there were a number of top class Minis of 14 inches or less. PD (1) A. JD (2) 1 Shaw’s Badlesmere Blackmail, attractive tri of correct size, strong head though a tad short. Dark eyes, one missing canine. Very good bone, balanced with moderate angulation. Moved rather enthusiastically so difficult to assess movement. BD on his type, quality & correct size; 2 Hearne, Singleton & Patterson’s Warbonnet Galetia, powerful red dog, much bigger than 1. Strong, wide & well finished head, ears up on top, ample bone. Poor shoulders & front. Well muscled hindquarters. PGD (1) 1 Taylor’s Seayess First Night, b/br in really hard condition. Nice enough head, though could be longer in foreface, bite incorrect. Decent make & shape, moved with purpose. Topline does not hold on the move. All Bull Terrier. LD (3,1) 1 Bullypin’s Kaimos, corky white with black eye patch, excellent type, nicely turned & filled head. Faulty bite. Good make & shape, moved & showed well. RBD; 2 Phillip’s Baiseys Mister Shredder of Bullyon, white, lovely long turned head & the tiniest of eyes. Larger than 1. Decent bone, moderate angulation. Moved reasonably well though rather wide in front. OD (4,1) 1 Peakin’s Byzantine Helter Skelter, smaller white dog with black eye patch, well within the desired height, decent enough head, compact, covered the ground with determination; 2 Phillip’s Baiseys Blanc Du Blanc of Bullyon, superb headed white, rather tall for a Min. Stunning head & expression, very typy dog, just large; 3 Presland & Vincent’s Ch Balesmere Brazon in Kofyn. PB (3) 1 Wiles’ Adderswood Vyvyan Arcazy, very promising brindle puppy, correct size, very nice head, good length with typical Roman finish, ample bone & substance, moved really well once she got going. Took this class with ease, let herself down in the challenge by refusing to show or move as well as she had earlier. RBB & RCC; 2 Martin’s Jandybull Just Anne Inch at Skybull, white pup with a cracking head & expression, correct bite. Very immature in body plus gay tail, just needs to grow into that terrific head; 3 Warbonnet Reet Petite. JB (3) 1 Foster’s Badlesmere Buzin About, typy white with black ears, well within the desired height, nicely finished head with keen expression, making full use of her ears, short back & shapely body, strong hindquarters, moved really well, particularly in profile, never put a foot wrong, presented & showing beautifully. BB & CC; 2 Bradley’s Surinonmini Slitherin with Jandybull, brindle, good length of head, correct bite. A little bigger than 1, could be a tad shorter in back. Moved pretty well; 3 Pilkington’s Transcend Golden Child. PGB (2) 1 Cartwright’s Black Mountains Bow, small, cobby b/br, very much of a piece. Ideally I would like greater strength & depth of muzzle. Neat ears used well, shapely body, moved purposefully & showed really well; 2 Godwin’s Juspeth House Maiden at Rymtel, bigger rich br/w, good length of head but lacking profile. Well muscled with strong hindquarters. Rather stressed & so would not settle down to show at her best, once she got going moved well & powerfully. LB (2) 1 McGregor’s Bullypins Millima of Merlindan, quality brindle bitch, lovely long head plus keen expression, decent bone & shapely body. Lacking in upper arm which appears to be a common failing. Well let down behind, showed & presented really well. Somewhat larger than my CC & RCC winners; 2 Manoli’s Seaquest Ballykissangel, white with brindle eye patch. Nice bitch though not the quality & strength of head of 1. Decent bone, good depth of brisket, covered the ground pretty well though somewhat close. OB (1) A.
